If you are Black or Latino (especially female) you will get an amazing mark, legit you can draw a duck with crayon and she will frame it and give you an 87% on the final paper. If not, keep quiet and write a pulitzer worthy paper and you may pass and may not be crucified in front of the class.

Rubenstein is the absolute worst. The class was supposed to be about popular culture in the AMERICA'S but yet she focused MOSTLY on south america and mainly on music in these countries where NOWHERE IN THE COURSE DESCRIPTION DOES THIS SAY SO. She seems like she has no idea what she is talking about and always seems too sick to attend class.

Professor was constantly off topic and content did not correlate to subject at hand. I took the course 1083, the proff herself seemed confused on what the days lecture was supposed to entail. I don't recommend this course and if you do take it, don't buy the textbooks, as the article are all online.

knows what she is talking about, but is very arrogant and always has to be right. Overall she is a nice professor if you attend class and tutorial, won't put up with slackers. and beware of taking your cell phone out in class... she will call you out on it.

Boring Prof, but not hard. I had her for 1083, depends on your TA, I had Paul - he is unfair in marking and has biases when he marks your written assignments - Also marks tutorial grades way to hard even if you come to every lecture, it's a first year course for goodness sakes - PS do not buy the course kit all the readings are online :)

She is incredibly superior but she knows exactly what she's talking about. However, her tangents are often frustrating and hard to listen to. She's a good teacher just not great.

She is rude, goes off on tangents about her superiority because of her tenure and does not allow students to have their own opinion in class. I also think she is very unprofessional in the way she speaks to students, she has made several rude comments about students behind their backs, which should have been made into an official complaint.

An amazing teacher. Although she frequently goes off on tangents they added humour to the class and they were usually relevant. I found her to be an easy marker and I liked the flexibility we had on our essays. I would definitely take another class with her. I've never had such a fun history class.

I've taken two of Anne's classes, and enjoyed both of them, despite not having any real interest in Latin American studies, or social/cultural history. That says something.

She is the worst professor I have ever had. She is RUDE, sarcastic really annoying with her useless facts. She has her favorites in her class so be careful and as for helpfulness? Shes the prime example of the kind of arrogant professor who doesnt want to help anyone out but just fail them. She is a huge nerd so beware of the revenge of the nerd!

She was a good prof. Enjoyed creativity in the essays and allowed us to write them in Spanish!I thought the course gave me a general idea about lat am hist and from there I could keep on going myself wich is what I needed. Her choice of books for comparison (not the actual required ones, those were extremely boring)was pretty good
