His class was a pleasure to take. He is very appropriate in his grading. If you do what is assigned, then you will have all the information you need to pass his class. The grading is very lenient, but you still learn loads in this class. Overall, highly recommended.

Crider is an interesting man. He has standards that are not very clear. There's a chance 80% of the stuff you say won't "WOW" him in class. For the warm-up activities, only one person can get a A+ each day, and thats the one who successfully "WOW"ed him. Very abstract way of thinking. Very devoted to his class. Too hard for a COR class.

This was the worst class I have ever taken. The expectations are unattainably high. You are not taught at all, and it is nearly impossible to achieve what he expects. He rarely offers positive reinforcement or constructive criticism, and if it's not his idea, it's wrong. Highly subjective grading.

I strongly recommend you DO NOT take his global experience class. You can go ask for help, and he will be not be helpful. He gives lots of confusing assignments, and is a very tough grader. This class was neither enjoyable nor useful.

I would never take Dr. Crider's class again. He gives one person an A and then bases everyone else off of that person. I had him for COR110 and we talked about pointless stuff (i.e. if Pluto is a planet or not, ancient Athens, Galileo). He is probably the most confusing grader. He gives advice to make a paper stronger and then you receive the same.

We had to do research on people from Ancient Athens and debate as if we were the characters coming up with laws. Many of my friends took global with a different professor and said it was easy, as a pre-med taking chemistry and biology this was my hardest class for the first half of the semester. And we had to read Platos republic and write speeches

This man does not give a hoot about his students. He depends on technology to do his job and allows his personal life to get in the way of his ability to successfully teach a class. Spring 09 semester was an EPIC failure for this man. Avoid the class, take anything else. It's NOT worth it on any level.

This is one of the best teachers at Elon. Astronomy is the easiest lab science and he is unbelievable...you would be really dumb to not take his class. Uses technology every day in class, he is funny, and an awesome person/fantastic teacher.

Crider doesn't really teach a lot, most of the teaching comes from student presentations (which he grades really hard). Tests are open book and on the computers, so if you pay attention to how to do everything in mathematica and excel its not too bad. Homework is worth 40% but its easy to get a good grade. Be prepared he doesn't round up!

I am not a big fan of Crider because he's anal about everything. I should have done better in the class but I was apathetic because I didn't like him. He gets the material across clearly. If you are a computer person it will make him really happy if you talk about computers with him. A bearable class, just don't let him get to you.

He uses techonology in his teaching process which makes it easier on the student and professor; however there is no room for partial credit. The second life outreach project is alittle time consuming but gives insight into a new sector of society. Take him if you like homework and tests by computers. He also makes astronomy easy and interesting.

Dr. Crider shows a lot of passion in this class. He gets excited about what he is teaching and when students ask stimulating questions he gets excited to excited to explore the answer. His use of activities helped me understand the material a lot more.

Dr. Crider was a great prof- clearly passionate and knowledgable about his subject. He made astronomy accessible, easy to comprehend, and most of all, fun. He puts a lot of emphasis on Second Life, but at least he gave different alternatives (other than SL) for our final projects. The exams were all online, which took a little getting used to, a

Crider was very passionate about astronomy, which in turn stimulated the thinking of his students. He was interesting and funny at times which made the class a little better. Too dependent on technology. We took tests, quizzes, and the final project online. Needed to spend more time on the actual subjects and in the lab.

Good class, but difficult at times. Crider is really helpful, espcially when you meet with him one-on-one. The online assignments are difficult because you dont have the info before hand. Clicker quizzes ae hard too, because it's hard to remember all material from the reading. Second Life was interesting, and I'm not sure I liked it as a grade.

Class is comprehensive and he is enthusiastic about the material.Only downfall is that as a scientist he has difficulty in communicating and sometimes will make things more difficult than he is. However he does wish to make things better and is available for help if you need it. Take him to fill the lab requirement and be less miserable than other.
