I took DeLuca's classes a few years ago. After having gone to grad school I realized his lectures were very limited. He seemed to talk more about himself and his scholarships than the topic. He also makes you buy his expensive books which not all of us can afford. Now I know what a good teacher is and Deluca is certainly NOT.

deluca's really not that bad a professor. yes he likes the sound of his voice and shoots down anything he doesn't agree with, but no one can refute that the man knows his stuff. he spent our entire first class pointing out that he's visited all our hometowns. he's pompous and snooty, but the class is great. i'd take his classes again.

Dr.Deluca is kind of ridiculous. He is one of the most pompous and arrogant teachers I have ever had. The extent of his teaching is giving loooooong lectures and facilitating "class discussions," in which he makes it clear that everyone in the class is retarded. He does seem to be a very intelligent man, but he is not good at teaching.

Nice guy. Dropped his class, and he was cool about it. From what I saw before I dropped the class, he introduces you to very interesting topics, makes you think critically, and shows some (with exceptions) deep, powerful films. He's got some weird quirks (microphone), but he's chill and smart.

GREAT professor. promotes great class discussions, good inclusion of films and readings, very generous grader, always very encouraging. he is very open to discussion about anything and is pretty respectful of everyone's oppinions.He really knows what he is talking about, and loves to share it. I hope to take another one of his classes soon.

GREAT GUY - KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT ISLAM talks about himself a lot - and the class is insanely easy - you dont have to learn if you dont want to but if you do want to learn you learn loads. perfect class for anyone. does not care about attendance

Personality Power and Politics was awesome. He lectures very fast and shows a movie the 2nd half which he leaves during. Promotes class discussion BUT NEVER while he's talking unless you want to die. He's very pompous, but I find it hysterical. He's very smart too and a generous grader. Always takes attendance.

I wouldn't say he's a horrible teacher, but he doesn't really command respect from the students, he does seem very incinsere most of the time, very pompous, though he is smart. The Islam class is disgustingly easy. you don't need to read any of the text or take any notes (but you won't realize that until it's too late)

If you were Poli Comm like me, you basically had a minor in Deluca. Trust me, he gets better with time. It's not that you CAN'T question him, you just have to be polite and intelligent about it -- a skill which few other professors require. In my classes, he often encouraged debates between the students and himself. In my opinion, he expected students to come to class prepared, interested, and ready to discuss. And no matter what you think of him, he's freaking brillant.
