Comment:

Dr. Anthony Esolen is hands down the best professor I have had at PC. My major is Finance but I enjoyed his teaching more than most professors in my department of study. PC was lucky to have Professor Esolen and so was I.

This man is the best teacher I've ever had. Each of his lectures are incredibly mind blowing, passionate and really funny too! You won't get board when he speaks. Not to mention he is hands down a genius. We just finished his translation of the Divine Comedy and it was quite beautiful. A fantastic Catholic intellect and overall a very holy man.

Lots of reading but then easy grader come essay time... That's the practical stuff. On a personal note, I think he's one of the wittiest men at PC. And extremely caring- he's helped me out without needing explanations. He is also a polymath. A genius. And you will find that you will prefer to sit and just listen rather than take notes or talk.

I had Esolen this semester and there is no one I would have rather had. He is the smartest and nicest guy and always give really interesting thoughts on the readings. Highly recommend, I would take him again in a heartbeat.

Dr. Esolen is truly a genius. He is not a professor that looks down upon his students, but rather seeks to share his optimism, especially about his favorite poet, Dante. The guy can speak like 10 languages and he brings in his dog for seminar and lecture sometimes. Honestly best professor I've had so far here. 100% would take again.

Esolen is a genius. He's very passionate about literature and Civ in general, to the point where seminar is more like a lecture, and he's a pretty fair grader. He is very opinionated, however, and you may have issues with your papers if you disagree with him.

Dr. E is very knowledgeable and can come off as intimidating. He lectures a lot, even in Seminar, and he doesn't force conversation in Seminar. Therefore if your not big into participating, he may be a good fit. However, he rewards those who do choose to participate. He is a tough grader when it comes to papers, but gives good feedback.

Dr. Esolen is a rare breed and quite possibly the most brilliant man at PC. You can go to his office hours and he is willing to spend the whole time talking to you about life and offers profound, life-changing advice. He is one of the few academics left who still quests ardently for Truth, Beauty and Goodness. Don't leave PC without taking him.

EXTREMELY passionate about the subject. Very intelligent. Grades somewhat hard on papers but is fair. Really is a nice man - Just beware: He has incredibly conservative views. He has a wikipedia page. Nothing wrong with having an opinion and standing for something, but it's just something people should know, especially if you don't agree with him.

Professor Esolen is a genius. He loves what he teaches and is genuinely interested in his student's lives. He grades kinda hard on essays(he is an English teacher after all)but the essays are never hard. Easy 10 Q MC quiz once a week and MC midterm. Final is slightly harder and has essay component but its still not bad. TAKE HIM!

Comment:

Fantastic english teacher. He makes everything you read come to life and Civ when he teaches is exciting. He is also very funny and easy to relate to. He'd be better off without Gondreau for a Civ team. Everyone in class loves him and you can tell he lives for teaching.
