Comment:

Had to show up to his class with the flu and skip my family vacation in order to avoid being dropped. Often strict to a needless degree. Professor, if you're reading this: We're adults. We're here to learn the course material, not a lesson in "soft skills". This is not your duty and your condescending attitude does not help your case much.

No extra credit. Very dry. You can't have an opinion on the discussion topics when responding to classmates. He won't even reveal your grade. You have to sit there and manually calculate it to know where you stand. Your success is not his goal!!! I don't recommend him. I wish I did more research prior to enrolling in his class!

This is a real college class. O'Regan is brilliant! I took him years ago and no other class or teacher have ever compared. Thus, here I am years later thinking of him and his classes writing this review. Don't be afraid of him, he has a huge heart and is willing to help. He does love football (soccer) huge Liverpool fan more than anything.

Comment:

Anthony O'Regan is a disgrace to LAVC. He uses his class to attack Trump, Conservatives, and really anyone who disagrees with him all day instead of teaching the material. He will test you on things he doesn't cover in the lectures, and the book wont cover the material either.

If you ever have life threatening situation with hospital and Dr. Note and submit your work 2 hours late, doesn't matter you will get a 0. So, if you can predict from not getting sick than take him.

He rambles on about things that have nothing to do with what he said we are talking about today. lectures are unclear, he just talks and writes light notes in chicken scratch on the white board. do not take this class if this is not your major. most of your grades is from test, and they aren't easy. i would not recommend to anyone.

Really good prof. He knows his stuff. His class is all about his lectures. He lectures for the whole class time maybe boring for some but were interesting. Grade is only determined by 4 2-part tests. Tests: MC & Essay. Prepare for essays in advance, they can be pretty difficult. Doesn't drop test scores. **SHOW UP TO CLASS OR HE WILL DROP YOU!**

I learned a lot from this class. Mostly from the book and not from any lectures. You must do all the work and respond at least twice to all discussions if your taking the online class. You must be college level in essay writing to receive 100/100. The essays are difficult and sometimes vague to what he really wants.

If your going to take a online class with him DO NOT TAKE IT, If your constantly working. He has 2 parts to every assignment so you will never get a notification on the app until you missed half the assignment. Which would be a 3rd of your grade based on that. You can avarage out a B and if you dont do well in the discussions YOU WILL RETAKE..

Hes really strict about his rules. Hes humorous but his lectures dont prepare you for your tests at all. He mostly speaks about his own political views. His study guide is vague but if you read the SPECIFIED chapters thoroughly youll pass. Wish I knew that before I took the class, had to drop because he grades on solely 4 tests.

Professor Oregan is a great professor who cares so much about his students. He definately prepares you for a four year university and makes you work hard for your grade. I transferred to UCLA two years ago and theres not much difference between a poli sci class in Ucla and a class with Oregan. He also loves soccer, probably more than politics.

I took three classes with him and man I miss him so much. Most of the negative reviews here are by students looking for an easy A. And he hates those students! He prepares you to actually transfer out of valley. Hes British and has such a typical sophisticated sense of humor but most students wont understand it and think hes rude.

Pol Sci 1: Very tough grader, but if you know your stuff, he will reward you. Read the damn book! I see so many reviewers saying getting an A is impossible, which is completely false. Just read the chapters, not glance over them. Read each a few times, and that A is guaranteed. A lot of reading, but if you want the A, you will get it.

He is a very good professor, he understands the material well and if you have any questions relating to the material he will explain it well. he is clear on what he wants from you and reminds you when you have deadlines coming up. Just know that he is a tough grader and unforgiving if you turn something in late or incomplete.

Rude and takes advantage of his online platform to be that way. Unclear due dates, says due date is at a said date and then when you open the assignment to do it, turns out there are two parts of the assignment and the first was already due. Beware, if you don't submit the first part you can't even see or participate in the second part. No no no.

Yes, he is a tough grader. However, you will most definitely learn a lot! His lectures are very informative. Don't be discouraged by how he presents himself, go to his office hours, ask for help. He is there for you! Read the textbook because it does go into more detail. Your grade consist of 3 test and the final. Take great notes, you'll be fine!

I find it a bit ridiculous that everyone here had such a hard time with him. I took 3 classes, two in person, one online and recieved two As and a B. It's possible to recieve As on his essays- most of mine were and the only reason I got that B was my poor multiple choice performance. He prepares you for upper-division university level work.

I would not recommend taking this professor. Your entire grade is based off of only 4 test grades. He doesn't really lecture he just talks about how he hates Donald Trump. Attendance is mandatory he will drop you. He will call you out if you're using any type of electronics in class. No extra credit.

Do not take him. I've never had a more unfair/unclear professor, being a straight A student I was barely passing with a C. Had to drop because he literally told me that receiving a B would be impossible. Expects discussion posts to be equivalent to 5-page essays and quizzes are timed 30min for 25questions that ask for a paragraph worth of answers.
