Comment:
Professor Minardi has only one real flaw in his teaching, and that is that he sometimes scribbles over what he has written. It is better to write what he says. If you have any questions on the material, he will gladly answer them. His tests are neither hard nor easy, just what he taught.

Had him for Heat Transfer II. I read these reviews and prepared myself for some difficult tests, but they were actually not that bad. Maybe it's because it's not a weed-out class like Thermo I. Or maybe he was just being nice to us. Either way, his lectures are great. Bring a book to follow along though because his handwriting is pretty bad.

Comment:
This class isn't easy by any means. He teaches well, and does a lot of examples. I feel like I've learned a lot more then my grade reflects. He's an all or nothing kind of teacher, meaning he gives little partial credit. He either sees that you know what you're doing or dont, it's that simple. No curves. Be prepared to spend a lot of time studying.

Will discuss difficult problems in class in order to prepare students for difficult tests. Three tests and a final that counts twice and he drops the lowest score. Suggested problems for the semester are in the syllabus from day one so the harder you work, the better you'll do. He messes up sometimes in lecture, but his intelligence overpowers them

Smart man, but he is an extremely hard exam grader and does NOT give extra credit or curve at all. This will be the hardest Thermo class to take due to it is all exams, no hw, no quizzes. Exam averages are in the 50's. So it's clear more than half of the class fails. Other professors do curve, so I would recommend to look elsewhere.

Fair and challenging. No grade adjustments are given, but you can drop one of five test grades (final counts as two). Grades come only from exams. Most people seem to fail this class given that the median grade is around 60 on exams. Do not screw around. READ the textbook and do the ALL of the suggested problems. That gets you at least a B. Cheers.

Minardi looks like a great professor. Having him now. Am enraged at how superficial some students are here. He is a man of his age and a little bit slow, but he is crystal clear.

Great prof he does not use powerpoint but actually writes things for the doc cam and has an oral lecture. He is somewhat difficult to follow at times but listen to what he says not what he writes. His reviews are exactly the same as the test, just with changed numbers. He will go over it with you in his office.

Thermo I and now Thermo II- I took minardi and did a withdrawl due to having a failing grade and having no chance on the final, but he was reasonable and gave me a withdrawl pass. I learned an immense amount of information from this teacher, although his testing abillities suck, he is a true teacher. I retook with another teacher and got an easy A.

Easy B. If you go to class you have to write what you hear not what you see on the board because it adds up to scribble. He does not do solutions for HW and he is not the best at explaining things because of it. However, he gives great practice tests and they are all you need to do well, open book barley helps unless you relate to practice test.

He is a decent lecturer and provides you with adequate information to understand the material. HOWEVER, he does not curve exam grades. Period. What you make is what you make. Be prepared to spend a HUGE amount of time on this course or you will NOT pass.

He explains the concepts well and is extremely knowledgeable. During lectures, he gives a basic summary of the material and goes over a few "easy" sample problems that are nothing like the test. He expects you to know how to prepare for tests effectively and will not act as your personal tutor. During tests, you need to know how to work fast.

Explains everything in crystal clear detail, and a very good lecturer for Thermodynamics. However, he expects a lot out of you, and his tests show that. He's not an easy teacher at all, but he's good. Make sure you do the homework, study, and know your stuff for his tests, because he doesn't curve and won't mind failing an entire class.

Yes he is difficult, but very good lectures and tests were fair. Do the pratice tests online and some of the homework problems and you'll be fine. you need the book, make sure you get the verison with both english units and metric units, and dont skip class, you'll get too far behind even from missing one

I was very scared going into thermo, but this teacher taught us extremely well. He is a little blind but that doesn't impede him from being the best professor I've had at UCF. His class consists of 3 tests and a final, the final counts twice. Take the 4 highest grades and average them out. Do the homeworks and make sure you understand.

I took Minardi for both Thermo I and II. Got a C and a B respectively. You can't be an Energy systems ME without having Minardi teach one of your classes. He is outstanding, though! It won't be easy, but you will learn extensively. Spread out the hw, do the practice tests, and DON'T SKIP CLASS and you should get A's. My downfall was the hw.

ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS I HAVE HAD AT UCF!! Minardi takes a topic that I had no clue about and ACTUALLY EXPLAINS IT AND EXPLAINS EVERY ASPECT ABOUT IT. If you go to class, he does examples and explains the thought process. He is very helpful in his office. He is a prof that actually teaches, which is rare.

He isn't as bad as some of the other posters made him out to be. I slept through every class, never did the homework, never studied. I got a C, with a little effort I am sure I could of gotten a B or A.
