April is the best!! I've never really had any experience with Excel or Access before and she made me really enjoy it. She loves when you go to her office hours. She is super helpful if you have questions and is a pretty cool person to chat with. It is really easy to do well in this class if you do the work and extra credit.

Comment:

I had April for K204. She was extremely caring and accommodating with all students, and really enjoys if you go to her office hours. She is very helpful if you just ask. There is a lot to learn but if you do the assigned homework you will do fine in this class.

Very approachable, cares about students. (She even called herself our K204 mom lol.) That being said, she can be a little disorganized and unclear in directions and grading criteria. Reach out for clarification or extra help, and she is willing to help out. Also in general, K204 is not as bad as everyone says it is. Just need to put in the effort.

Honestly speaking, K204 is a painful class. It is difficult sometimes gets a little bit frustrating. With that said, April Heltsley is far and away one of the best teachers I have had in my academic career. She is caring and understanding, and she will go out of her way to ensure that you have the tools to succeed. Loved having her... best teacher

April isn't terrible, but from what I can tell the other profs, Carlos and Amy, are much better. The people I know from their classes always seem to know a bit more of what's going on both content wise and in the case competition. April is pretty notorious for cancelling office hours all the time and being unorganized.

April is perhaps the best teacher I have encountered at IU. Despite knowing a lot of the k204 material prior to taking the class, I found her lectures to be highly informative and engaging. Many students found the class difficult, but doing textbook problems ahead of time is the best way to be prepared for class and gain favor with her for the year

April is a great teacher. She was very available for help and very understanding and tried to get the best she could out of every student. However, she is an organizational mess. Of the thirty or so kids in the class, I have talked to roughly half, and not one consistently knows what's due, when it's due, or has any general sense of what's going on

K201/4 can be a tough class but April was an extremely caring and understanding professor that knew her material. She really helped us get prepared for the two exams and the TAs and peer mentors were beneficial as well. The group project may seem pushed on you last minute but the Mentors really help you get it done.

April was great! She would respond to emails in the middle of the night to make sure that we knew what we were doing. You have to go to class and follow along to understand what is going on, but she will stop to answer any question, make more office hours, and stay after class. She wanted to make sure everyone knew what she was teaching.

While April might be a great teacher for K204, I feel like she falls a bit short in K360 with the teaching material. The class has a lot to offer, but some of the assignments are a bit unclear and the help that is necessary to complete the assignments isn't always there.

Simply put, April is the best. I came in knowing legit nothing about Microsoft Excel/Access and I came out with a decent understanding of the material, thanks to her. I've never seen a professor so willing to offer help to students that ask. Class is tough but not horrible if you put in work and definitely get with a good group. Fantastic professor

Whether you know quite a bit about computers or have no experience, you will learn something in April's class. I've never had a professor care so much about her students and honestly I wish I could take this class again. She's there to complain about mishaps in life with you, and to celebrate your triumphs. Best professor ever, by far!

April is the bomb. I knew nothing about computers. Walked out of that class with an A that I earned and that she helped me earn. Learned much more than I thought I would or could. The class takes up a lot of time, but a good grade pops out if the time is put into it. I'd take April over K201 any day. Best course I've decided to take so far.

April is truly amazing. Very unorganized and the class is confusing at first but as things become clearer she is the most helpful sincere individual and everyone loves her. Never had a more understanding professor. Also, if you do the extra credit you can guarantee yourself an A its actually almost ridiculous.

I took this class with almost no computer experience and it was definitely challenging at times. But there are lots of opportunities for extra credit and April was always willing to help! There is a tough group project and you need to really organized. I would definitely recommend taking with April. Good luck!

April was a wonderful teacher. Always there to help students - if you send her an email about ANYTHING, she'll reply and help you. The exams are tough but she offers enough extra credit to help your grade. Do the KCs for sure, and give yourself enough time to finish all of them. HIGHLY recommended professor. Best one I've had.

April is not only a wonderful professor, but she is also a saint. She is incredibly helpful and understanding. She does an excellent job of explaining what is completely new material to most of her students. She really got me excited about material that I thought would be miserable. I strongly recommend her.

Most unorganized teacher ever. She skipped lectures often and had her TA teach class. More like a 6 credit hour class. Taught myself the content because she was so confusing and disorganized in class. Took her FOREVER to get grades back.

April is an absolutely fantastic professor! The class content is somewhat difficult and unfamiliar, but if you listen to April's lectures and do the assigned work on time, you should be able to do well. April is always willing to help her students. If you have the chance, I highly recommend April's class!
