Dr. McCook's passion for the topic he is speaking about is illuminated through his teaching. His classes are exciting and the way he teaches keeps you engaged. I have learned an enormous amount in his classes. While his tests are tough, it is not difficult to do well if you pay attention and go to class. Overall, great guy and great teacher.

Hes very passionate but his class is very hard I never passed a test and the weekly quizzes were challenging too. Even an A+ student would struggle very much. Honestly i don't recommend him unless you can really handle a work load and study really hard.

Ridiculously hard class, it's extremely unclear what you need to know for tests and the work load is immense. I don't remember her name but for the love of god switch to the other professor. If you're a A- to B-ish student expect a C in this class at best. Do what I didn't do, don't take history with McCook.

Great person, awful teacher. His tests are ridiculous. I used a tutor for the entire course, and still only made C's. Even my tutor can't stand him. Totally unfair, totally unorganized, and the only thing I learned from the class were HIS RANDOM TANGENTS THAT HE DOES NOT TEST OVER. If you have him, switch out. Drop it.

Literally the hardest tests ever. He claims the tests will come from what he covers in class , but that's a total lie. Also, the quizzes. readings, and lectures are never matching up so just get use to that. The real thing that saves your grade in this class is actually showing up (attendance is a big part of the grade!!) and discussion boards.

This was the hardest class I took. You need the book for the timed quizzes, but the exams are on the long lectures that happen every class period. It was too much information to memorize and take notes on, and I failed the class.

His lectures and tests have nothing to do with one another. He tells you to read the chapters in the book but doesn't teach in chronological order so you are constantly trying to find what chapter your topic is in. Overall terrible experience with him and his class. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

He was def. one of my hardest professors. I had a D at midterm and raised it to a B at the end of the semester. Just be prepared to do a lot of reading. He has quizes over every chapter. 5 to 10 Questions/Quiz. 32 chapters 2 quizes a week. Tests are pretty hard, but if you study a lot you will figure out what he likes and get a good grade.
