Comment:
Art Fredeen is by far the most pretentious professor at UNBC. He clearly displays favoritism for certain students and will mark through a lens of bias opinions. My recommendation is to stay far away from this professor unless you are required to take his class. He is not a good professor.

The course itself did not fit the description whatsoever, attendance was mandatory, no tests and no textbooks, reading were TedTalk videos. All this makes it sound like a breeze but beware this prof marks so hard on papers, harder than any English prof. Also shows slide shows about his personal biology trips, doesn't pertain to class. Great teacher and goo knowledge of subject. Midterms were ridiculous and did not reflect students knowledge of course material, but final exam was fair. His lectures are presented in an enthusiastic manner and are interesting. I could have studies for his midterms for weeks and still not passed them. Easy to talk to and willing to help out.

Someone should really go to the Chair of his program and complain. This class is utter b.s. This could be one of the easiest and most enjoyable subjects if it was taught by someone who knew how to teach rather than just read off of slides. Oh and the marking is a total joke.

I can't believe he's a prof here. The average for our exam before scaling was 55%. 22 kids failed. Being a good student doesn't do much for you in this class I guess... You have to be a perfect student to pass his exams.

Very confusing and disorganized. Says one thing and changes to another subject, and says he'll come back but he doesn't! Then the stuff shows up on an exam. Very cocky, and thinks he's a ****...didn't like him or his teaching style..needs to go back into the education program.
