Comment:

Getting an A in this class is not hard. You must: (a) go to class, and (b) do all the extra-credit he allows. I got low B's on the two (non-cumulative!) tests, but was in class on the days of the open-note quizzes and did all of the simple online surveys for extra credit. Whan all else fails, guess on the tests, the theories are all common sense!

I really enjoyed his class. I felt like his lectures were very clear and interesting. The tests are difficult but he also offers a lot of extra credit throughout the quarter. If you don't do well on the test, then the extra credit should help you out. I never contacted him so I really don't know how well he responds.

The TA's suck very rude and unorganized, every time they gave out tests each row had like 5 people that didn't get one. the prof is unhelpful and lies about the deadlines. The notes in lecture were useless, I pretty much read the book while studying, otherwise u would flunk the exams, so u don't have to go to lecture, I would say just read the book

I think Art is a pretty great guy. He's really funny and he makes the theories pretty easy to understand. The class however, is definitely a tough one. You DO have to study!! If you're into Communications, definitely take it with Art. He makes a normally boring class not so bad!

Very easy class, just show up and sort of pay attention. About 9 points extra credit. This guy is really annoying and his voice makes me want to fall asleep...but its super easy if you can get past this guys obnoxious personality

This class has so many theories to keep up with and that's all it is. Art throws a bunny out into the class audience to get students to participate when he asks questions. I would only take his class if required and absolutely necessary. I actaully had to read for his class. There was a question based on the caption of a picture in the book

You have to learn how to study for the tests to do well. I always put each theory on a separate piece of computer paper to learn each theory for the tests. Basically, if you can learn each theory and its structure behind them, you'll be fine, and by studying them this way helps you (at least for me) know the material.

I really enjoyed this class. Art made the lectures really easy to listen to and actually gets students to participate even in Hitchcock. Classes aren't mandatory but he doesn't post notes and there are pop quizzes so go to class.

Attending lecture is a must! He does not post notes online. He gives 2 random quizzes during the quarter on that day's lecture w/ no make-ups. You get 2 chances on both exams! The online website for the book is great! It has quizzes & professor outlines! Use the outlines & quizzes to study! If you use the outlines, you don't need the book.

The notes and syllabus makes the class seem like a joke class but the test come from no where and are extremely hard. He says his class is easy and is not a tricky teacher on test but he is. If you are great at test this is a good class for you if not YOUR SCREWED!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the notes and book material coincided very well. I never tried to communicate with him, but I do know my TA was worthless and rude. I got B's on the exams but I crammed a couple of hours before the exam. Use the online practice test from the book! He gives you two chances to take the exams.

If you read and go to class you will do well; however, Ramirez is a jerk if you try to ask him questions or address concerns. He will tell you to see the TAs and will basically ignore you 100%. I don't think he cares a bit about whether the students are learning or not. He is extremely arrogant and conceited.

He makes you think he's super easy! Don't be fooled! Take him seriously. READ THE BOOK AND GO TO EVERY CLASS! That's how you get the A! He's nice, and the class is not that boring...he tries to make it fun. Just take the class seriously, and you can get an A. Slack off, tho, and you won't do well at all.

Art was a great teacher, not to mention he's pretty easy on the eyes ;) Be sure to read the chapters for the exams, but most of the material comes from the notes. Gives tons of extra credit opportunities, which is needed because the exams are harder then they first appear to be!
