Comment:
This could have been such an interesting class and he absolutely killed it. His lectures are so dry and unengaging. There are no exams, only papers, and if you read the book you'll be fine.

Comment:
He's a really nice guy but his lectures are somewhat inconsistant and repetitive. Most of the content comes from readings, which are a lot. You can miss a bunch of class (like me), do readings, and do well in the class. The exams/paper are reasonable but still difficult. No final, just a 10 page final paper. Consider the W, it's not much more work.

He is at least 90 years old. Half the time, I can't hear him because his normal voice is a whisper, and when I can hear him, he makes zero sense. If you do all the reading (it's a lot) you'll do fine on the exams, but I really wish he was a better lecturer for such an interesting topic.

Comment:
He's very smart and I learned a ton about Social Security but he's a jerk and the worst professor I've had. His grading is incredibly unfair and he only likes conservatives. You have to agree with his views to do well and critical thinking is discouraged.

There are few professors who can engage me at 8:30 in the morning, especially on a topic like Social Security. This one can, I recommend him highly.

didn't return mid-terms until class before the second mid-term, can't get straight answer out of him, and hard to follow.

For an 8:30 am class, Jacobs does an amazing job at presenting material in a straightforward manner without relying too much on the intense reading required for the course.
