Art is such an amazing teacher. His lectures are beyond phenomenal and he really put in the effort to make his students understand American Politics. There are only three exams put into the grade, so you better study extremely hard for those exams. Attending lecture is needed, as they are an integral portion of the exams! Good luck!

Comment:

Art is the greatest professor I've ever encountered. He's passionate, intelligent, and motivated to teaching students about the Constitution and American politics. It's true that he's liberal but he stimulates a good discussion no matter your politics. Even if you're not a poli-sci major you will greatly enjoy this class.

I absolutely love Art! As a Johnston student, I contracted POLI-112 to have essays instead of exams, which was a fantastic choice. He gave great feedback on my essays. His lectures are interactive and fascinating. He's won Best Professor at U of R for several years. I can't wait to take more classes with him.

Art is one of the most brilliant professors I've ever met. I'm so glad I got to meet him and can't wait to take more classes with him. His class is a fun one if you have a passion in the Law and the Constitution, even if you don't it's a heck of ride. Take this class if you are a prospective freshman or any of his classes and you'll be glad u did.

Art really cares about his students in a way that I haven't encountered in any other setting. But he doesn't let that get in the way of challenging them! Show up to every class, engage him, follow his advice, and if you get a bad grade, go to his office to find out exactly what you did wrong. You'll have an incredibly rewarding experience!

Typical lefty prof and a mean person. 1 day shortly after the start of the semester, he saw me driving my car that had Texas plates. Once he found out I was a southerner, he made life miserable. The next day I walked in and he picked a fight over the 10th amend. And gun rights, getting the class to gang up. My Jeffersonian views unjustly got me a C

Art is extremely passionate, I took his most difficult class, and yeah, it was difficult. But school should be difficult sometimes, its an experience, its not bad. Law is not my field, and sometimes I felt a bit frustrated case after case, but I learned a lot. He is absolutely willing to work with you. Prepare to study, but he's one you should take

I've been told by my teachers my whole life of how great I am at writing, but have never been challenged. Art was the first to throw my papers away because of how utterly terrible they are. Because of Art, I was forced to push myself to actually create good works of writing. This is a difficult class, but it's the most rewarding one on campus.

Art is fantastic, I truly loved his class. Im going to take another one of his classes even though I dont need to because I like him so much. He is super open to discussion, will defend a student's opinion if others challenge it to stimulate debate, and is excited about his subject.

I took Con Law I & II with Art before I went to law school as well as an interim class with him the same year. He was also my advisor on my senior thesis. A great professor but you need to make sure you do all the reading or you won't be able to keep up. My rating for "easiness" is based on my experience in law school.

Took Con Law I & II with Art quite a few years ago, but I recall Art as being a very dynamic, engaging, charismatic professor. He was very lively, and always liked to keep his students engaged. He made Con Law interesting. I would recommend this class, even if you're not focusing on Govt/PoliSci, if you have room/time to take it. Very nteresting.

Con Law with Art was my favorite class. Art is amazing and one of the smartest people you will ever meet, intimately knows the cases and presents them in creative and new ways. Fascinating material and fun classes. He is a tough grader, though, but if you work hard you will do fine.
