Comment:
Its ALOT of reading of foreign literature. Some of the writing styles are very different from american and are difficult to understand as completely as he expects. Lecture heavy and alot of the info isnt on the tests. Only 3 graded assignments (to include final and midterm). Do not take this class for fun, its very difficult, much like Dolson.

Only 100 points are available total and two tests (with about 10 questions each) make up 90% of the grade. Can't explain the grades he gives (most questions are "subjective" so only he knows why he gives a certain grade). The dean had to force him to explain grades. This is the worst experience I've had at ISU in 4 years.

Took three classes from him. He is quite the character and expects students to work. He is personable and friendly. Very willing to help. Hard class, but good at getting difficult ideas across.

Dr. Dolsen is probably the best professor I've had so far. He's funny and super knowledgeable. He definitely wants his students to learn, and-whether they do or not- he expects them to try. We have homework every day, but it only takes about 30 minutes or less. He's always willing to help, and is friendly when you see him outside of class.

I can take instruction from any professor that wants to see you learn, but this is the first time I've had a teacher who assumes intellectual superiority from a one hundred level class. To go so far as to say "you kids make me want to cry" because we haven't picked up on a concept he taught us that same day is absurd. Take this class cautiously.

Very goofy teacher, fun and crazy, but very serious class is hard and a lot of homework and studing is needed. Is very interested that is students learn latin and is friendly enough to say hi outside of the classroom.

THis guy rocks. Hilarious class and I learned alot. Probably the only annoying thig was his imaginary friend "elvira" but even that was humorous.

Prof. Dolsen is a strange character. He is very unorganized in the way he teaches. He knows too much, and expects students to already know a lot of things just because he knows them. He is very funny at first, but then it get really old and it turns into lameness.
