He expects that you are here for physics research and will not give you more than a 80% on labs unless your work will win you the Nobel Prize. Essentially it is essential to not take this class with him.

Grades extremely hard on lab reports and the comments he writes aren't legible. Ask peers in class for improvement on the reports. Overall, he's a nice person, makes a few jokes in lab, which is nice. Can ramble about history stories but it's no biggie. There are probably better lab instructors that grade easier but he's a nice guy.

For 222 lab: not helpful at all and requires way more than is required by the department for lab reports

Well, he is very nice. He's really old, but still very helpful in class. I can't really understand what he's talking about, but I like him because he shows a great dedication to what he's doing

Pretty much awesome for a lab prof. if you want to not do a whole lot in the class, and still get a good grade, talk to him about military stuff. He grades on the quality of what you have done, so even if you dont get anywhere near the end of the lab, but you do high quality work on the part you did get done, you get good grades

Note:I had Art for Lab and Recitation--not lecture. Indeed, this guy is weird. Says essentially a lot. Quizzes are okay. Labs were fun. This guy wasn't all that bad. Idk what he's like as a lecturer, but if you have him for lab or recitation, he's not bad. Does trail off often. Talks about himself being a fourth-generation physics prof. often

spits in your face while TRYING to explain something which in the end confuses you more than when you started. His history of his family is talked about more than physics. HE SUCKS

Odd teacher. You can't get a perfect score on labs unless you go above and beyond what is normally required. Don't believe the manual when it says to work at your own pace. If you don't finish you lose points. Wasted time at the beginning of class with strange history stories...

Flew through notes in class and said he'd put them online, which he didn't do for a long time. Impossible amounts of homework, couldn't learn anything. Had to be curved like no other, test averages were in the 30's. Said 'essentially' about 400 times.

Talk about confusing! This guy says a whole lot but leaves you wondering what he said. He sure knows his material, but he struggles to explain it to students. I found him extremely helpful if you get to him 1 on 1.

I counted the use of the word essentially 85 times in one 50 min class period. It's annoying as hell.

Goes off on random tangents mid sentance. Lectures make no sense and dont help with understanding of meterial. Meterial not too difficult but he makes it much harder. WAY TOO MUCH HOMEWORK!!
