Davin is one of the best professors I've had at Penn State. He truly cares about his students and makes a class that a lot of people dread fun. He was tough on grading speeches but my public speaking improved tremendously from taking his class.

Davin is probably the nicest professor I have had at Penn State. He really cares about his students, and as long as you are willing to work,you should get a good grade. I do not enjoy English or Speech, but I enjoyed this class. Great Professor!

Davin is a good guy whose main interest is in the education of his students. You will do your best not because it's required of you but because you'll want to prove to him what you're capable of. If you aren't willing to work your ass off, then stay away but if you are looking for a good, fun class, this is it.

Class is entertaining. Grading is extremly arbitrary. The worst grading schema I have seen at Penn State. Davin hands out B's like its his job with no explanation. Provides zero feedback to improve public speaking abilities.

Davin is a wonderful speaker and makes the class (that everyone dreads) pretty enjoyable. The way he handled the class worked. He's very sensitive to those who get nervous as well. Great personality and great teacher. Refreshing to meet kids in the class too. Davin makes it personalized. I crossed campus for his 8:00, that has to mean something.

If you have to take CAS100 try to get him. Very laid back, tries to make class fun, really cares about students, grades fairly. If he sees that you are trying to improve your speaking skills, he will reward you. Overall, I am very pleased with him.

great teacher! really helpful. a little effort goes a long way, not hard to do well in the class. take this class with Davin! from what i've heard of other cas100 classes, this one is definitely one of the better ones to take

Davin is a cool young guy. Boring sometimes, but 80% of the class is you listening to others speak. You do have to go because after you miss three classes it starts to affect your grade. He grades rather easily if you can give a half descent speech, and follow what he is looking for.

Quizzes aren't too bad, the final exam was a little difficult but as long as u study u will be fine. If you have to take this class take it with davin, he is a really nice guy and wants his students to do well. Speeches were relatively easy i thought and lectures are fun.

Davin is really an awesome guy. Giving the speeches arent very hard at all. The test at the end is rough, but if you study you should be ok. He is probably the best speech teacher you can get. He is so nice and will help you no matter what. He is the best guy and attendance is the best part of the class.

ive heard a lot of bad things about cas 100 professors, so he is probably an angel compared to a lot of them... but he's a bit of a tough grader. he places a little more emphasis on the content of speeches than the delivery, and we didnt have any notecard restrictions or word limits or anything. class was fun & laid back.
