Most professors only care about your performance in the class, but Dr. C tries to prepare his students for life in a job. My class had a lot of hw for coding with any OO language. My C++ became a lot more polished. He assigned group projects which definitely helped my resume and gave me practical experience. I recommend taking it (mostly) seriously

Took CSE 440 and 455. At the end of the quarter you will find that you are working on the project with a sense of responsibility as a group, not as a class to get A. Whatever the outcome of the project, the professor will give you a score depending on how much you contribute to the group. I recommend this class if you have a high participation.

Took him for CSE 440 and CSE 455. He is a good professor. His focuses on group projects so those are really important if you want to pass in the class. At the start of the quarter you decide and at the end of the quarter you deliver. If you do so then you get the grade.

If you're willing to put in the work and take his classes seriously you can learn a lot and he is more than willing to help. He expects a lot from his students but you learn a lot too. I also was an intern on his Mobile App Development Team for a year. That really gave me good work experience and a leg up on the job search.

Dr C. has built an amazing program which gives students the chance to learn how to work in a real world situations while still having a curriculum driven course. He gives everyone a chance to improve their grade and is extremely understanding. His 455 class has opened many doors for me already and I appreciate his passion to better the workforce.

Dr. Concepcion's class like any good class requires effort. The class is designed to prepare students for a real world working environment, so good time management skills are important. The projects have real clients, so the experience gained can be added to your resume. I have since graduated and I'm glad that I took Dr. Concepcions class

Very good professor took him for cse455 and learned about improving coding and coding modular. You also get to develop and work in a team environment to simulate what it would be like in the real world. The group work was fun but hope you get a good group. You'll be using most of the labs you made in the beginning for future labs so do them well.

A brilliant and intellectual professor! I had a privilege to intern at National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) for 9 months and I constantly utilized Personal Software Process (PSP) structure to help assist management to keep track of code metrics. Dr. Concepcion's AMAZING lectures, helped my learning curve for software development.

Lot of Paper works, Home Works, and also you need to work on the project. Doesn't teach anything about programming, hes just talks about how Software Engineers works in real world.

HW grading is insane. You can do 95% of the work right, miss one detail, & fail the assignment. Unclear expectations. So much paperwork. Class is based on "PSP" which is the most asinine thing I learned & not used in the industry. Projects are luck of the draw and difficult. Lab aids do most of his work/grading. Extremely out of touch course/prof.

This class was one of the most useful classes I took during my entire undergraduate study. I received a lot of attention from hiring managers and recruiters for taking this course. I still to this day, some 17 years later, use concepts I learned in this course.

I took Dr. Concepcion's CSE 455, Software Engineering, and I have to say I learned so much. The professor is not a hard grader, but requires students to work hard in the group projects, which are usually mobil application projects. I am 100% positive that the things I learned in this class got me my first job as a Systems Engineer.

Dr. Concepcion cares about your understanding, if you don't understand, see him at office hours. Grading wasn't super clear, but he gave several second chances. You will not learn the specifics of a programming language, but that's realistic, any employer will expect you to already know or learn it. He is helpful at pointing in the right direction.

CS455 with Dr. Concepcion was one of the most important classes for me for my CS major. You get to actually develop real mobile applications for a client, and that experience cannot be duplicated from textbooks. The class assignments are a lot, but they should not be difficult. Dr. Concepcion makes himself available so take advantage.

CSE455 with Dr. Concepcion was one of the best classes I took at CSUSB. The class gives you the opportunity to work with a real client and create software for them. No other class at the school gives students this kind of experience. The homework for the lecture is not difficult, and if you find it so, you are probably in the wrong major.

Software engineering with Dr. Concepcion is truly one of the best classes I have taken. The environment he created mimicked perfectly and prepared me well for what I currently experience at my job in the federal government. I also highly recommend taking the time to get to him as he genuinely cares about seeing his students succeed in their careers

Dr. Concepcion is a passionate teacher who understands what working in a group can provide two students in terms of a real-world impact. The course is challenging but fruitful and allows for creativity. Designing web-based applications is a strong way to build a portfolio and many students were able to do that as a result of taking this course.
