This guy has all the credentials to teach thermo but with none of the ability to convey basic information. He seemed to read off the powerpoint solutions to two problems every lecture. This was the first class I skipped completely to just read the textbook.

Atreya seems nice, but when it comes to actual teaching he's useless. He will never do examples, so get ready to learn on your own. Also just go to one lecture, then he repeats that lecture for the entire semester, with almost no new content.

Comment:

Professor Atreya is like a grandfather who can't teach anything. He just says to "do the monkey business" and you get the answer while pointing at a powerpoint. I read the book and got a tutor to avoid his disorganized lecture slides. That being said, his curve is generous. If you can take him and attend the other professor you will beat the curve.

This course is absolutely miserable. Attending lectures is useless. He uses nothing but powerpoints which make you fall asleep. He doesn't care about the course, or what you think. He doesn't seem to care about teaching in general, very disorganized. Avoid him like the plague.
