Very difficult teacher. His quizzes and exams have no partial credit, but the questions are designed so that if you know it, you'll have no problems. (Of course, if you don't do the homework, chances are you won't know what to do.)

Took him for 3131 as well. Pay close attention to the in class problems, because those are what he puts on quizzes/tests. His grading is harsh, but literally almost every problem he gives you is one he's covered almost exactly. He also gives opportunities to make up points via extra projects/HW, so do those if you're uncertain about your grade.

The lectures are reasonably easy to follow. He has random quizzes "based on lecture" however they usually require higher level problem solving than is covered in the lecture. Same thing with exams. No partial credit on exams. I would recommend doing the optional homework before exams because it covers some concepts no covered well in lecture.

Very hard professor. Honestly you will probably learn more in his class in a semester than other professors over a couple years. There is no partial credit on exams, either you get it right or you get a 0 for that question. Attend class, take notes and form a study group if you want to do well. Good luck

So bad... His quizzes are very hard and you'll get a better grade on his exams by not showing up. Treats the class like it's a 4000+ level class. Flies through the material and isn't really open to questions while he is on a roll (which he always was). Honestly you learn a ton from his class but your GPA will suffer severely.

Third class I've had from him. I always thought he was a great lecturer but terribly difficult one.After realizing his style is all about studying the notes from the class + the quizzes and using that on the exams his classes become a cinch. I can't wait to take classes from him has a grad student.

He's a good teacher, not an easy one. VLSI was a lot of fun with him and I learned more in the first few weeks about CMOS than I ever did in Electronics, just for that it was worth taking the class for me.

Dr. Goel is a great teacher. Does he make you work? Oh, you better believe it, but with a little work you will take an enormous amount away from this very knowledgable man. So if you want to be lazy and sluff your way through college, this is not the professor for you. But put in the work and you will be rewarded.
