Professor Shingler is an expert in Material Science. However, his lectures were surprisingly dull for such an interesting topic. If you copy what he writes on the whiteboard, you will be fine for his open note tests. He grades hard on the lab reports, so be careful.

Very monotone voice. Marty made engineering was very dry and cold. He compared me a lot to his daughter. When I went to ask him for help in his office hours, he got off topic several times. Marty was a terrible teacher overall.

Teaches a first year experience class, does not have a clear objective and I have not learned anything valuable. Pointless class, pointless teaching, would not recommend. Often find lectures are without purpose. Takes very long pauses where you often find yourself thinking why you are in the class at all.

worst college instructor in my life so far. just does not care. extreme confusing even on simple math problems. homework is point less. set up for failure from day one. if you can't you follow his logic and though process you are going to fail. even though he is smart, he can't relate any of what is teaching to his students.

Terrible He lectures for hours, he is extremely unclear in everything he teaches, he is an unbelievably hard grader, he always assigns pointless homework that takes hours upon hours to complete that drag your grade down, his tests are so huge and contain so much material making it hard to pass because he doesn't space anything out.

I think he is a decent guy and I have no doubts that he is knowledgeable due to hardcore diligence. I was taking a 'Mickey Mouse' intro class and I dropped his class to protect my GPA, he grades hard. The assignments aren't difficult. But, turn them in on-time without errors or else-- expect to lose a lot of points.

Online course. He gives you a lot of work. Not only do you need to work on the chapter reviews in the book, but also Cengage practice homework, homework, quiz and discussion boards. Most of the time it was 2 chapters a week. Emailed him about incorrect quiz answers and he took care of it promptly.

Really bad professor. Very condescending to students. Went out of his way to set people up to fail. Does not teach at all. Refuses to answer questions (avoids them). He is also inappropriate and makes fun of other students by putting them down in their absence. Overall terrible. Save yourself some misery and avoid his classes.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! He skips over material and then puts it on the test. Shingler does not teach. He just writes vocabulary words on the board and takes example problems out of the book. Stay away from this class unless you just need a "D."
