I really dislike English but her class was enjoyable. I actually learned well and increased my skills in reading/writing from the way her class is structured. She doesn't bombard you with homework, everything is manageable, and very clear on what the guidlines are. LOVE HER and highly recommend.

Doesn't have super clear criteria for papers (Except gen. content guidelines) but this means she doesn't have strict expectations which allows you to write as much or as little as you think you need too. It seems like she generally grades on a curve, so as long as you put in more effort than the guy next to you, you'll get an A.

Mrs. Avis is passionate about teaching and her enthusiasm makes students want to learn. Her tests are all take home to be done over the entire weekend. She does have you do a lot of presentations, which can be helpful to those needing to overcome talking in front of their peers.

This teacher is so easy. She makes Shakespeare easy. I love her. But she ended up doesnt reply my email and doesnt add up my extra credit point, doesnt change my paper score either even though i revised it. so disappointed about that.

She's a very nice teacher. There are several essays throughout the quarter, nothing too serious though. Exams are take home, and you can get the answers from her powerpoint lectures. You should probably (at least) read summaries of the plays discussed, or better yet, actually read the plays.

I took Childrens lit. from her and it was fantastic. She is an awesome teache. The only required textbook was Charlottes web, wich you can borrow from her (she has like a million copies). Such a fun class. I deff recomend to anyone to take this class. I loved it. She always has fun lessons and the test are take home!!! :) LOVE YOU AVIS!!

Avis is a fantastic teacher and person, inside and out. She is kind and passionate and is willing to do anything it takes for her students. She truly is a one of a kind and is the best teacher on campus, guaranteed. I'd reccomend ANYONE to take this class, or any class from this professor.

I took ENG180 as an elective. Honestly, it was an EASY 4.0. You can definitely tell that she is passionate about children's lit and she also has this "motherly" feeling about her. She wins GRCC's most nicest instructor. =)

Avis is such an amazing teacher and the class could not have been more fun. Very little homework, no papers to write, just group presentations, which I thought would suck, but ended up meeting great people and having a lot of fun. I will be so devastated when the class is over in a few weeks, because I love it so much!!!

Really nice and is willing to help you on a personal level. Tries to know your name and learn how you learn to try to teach you better. It feels really home-y in her classes. Great teacher, almost guranteed that you'll like her. Take the class. :) Also she works GREAT with Bruce if your taking the History of movies class (BEST CLASS EVER).
