Comment:

Not impressed at all. The lectures were not only useless, but she could not refrain from using 'umm' at LEAST once per sentence. The class material could have easily been very interesting, but she quickly made it dull. Tests are relatively easy. TAs were very helpful and made the class material relevant and understandable.

I was her research asst for 3-1/2 years. We had a falling out, and I left grad school. When her book was published 10 years later, she didn't mention me in her acknowledgements, though she thanked her 3 other "fabulous" research assts by name. I don't think she has integrity,using my research and then not even mentioning me in her acknowledgements.

Class is pretty boring and there are tons of readings but f you read the books for the papers it's very easy. She only gave one exam the entire semester and it was relatively easy. She wants everyone to do well...

Comment:

The nicest and probably the smartest woman i have ever met. She is almost to intelligent on the subject matter to be and incredibly efficient teacher. Lots of time I think that her mind gets ahead of her mouth and she has to pause and get caught up with herself. The TA's make the class absolutely intolerable. It is almost ridiculous.

She is so fly. And lacks clarity, rightmindedness, and a decent speaking voice. But if you care about England, then take the course. She is brilliant. God save the Queen!

A good professor, but the TA's make the course unbearable. Took this course as an honors classs in High School and still made B-'s on all the tests and papers. I actually tutored others who made better grades than I did. TA's ruin the class. Plus, she curves down to a B- as well. Oh well. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Don't take this class.

The class was pretty entertaining, I recommend actually going to class at least 75% of the time because most of her tests are based on the lecture, though partly on the readings. She's really big on women in history-the two books we read were on the subject, as were the papers. It's not difficult to get an A: go to recitation and take notes.

worst teacher i have ever dealt with...the woman may have an interesting background but she is a terrible teacher (in terms of both personality and teaching ability). she is unapproachable and unsympathetic

I learned more about her ex-husband and her problems with her son than I learned about the material in the course. I found her to be very self-absorbed, it was ALL about her. My mother died and all Prof. Harris cared about was some damn paper she wanted me to hand in--and then criticized me for not writing a brilliant paper.

wow this class was excruciatingly boring. i agree that she says umm soooo much and it's really annoying. sooo much boring reading to do about insignificant details such as some woman who writes a will and all the things she gives to everyone she knows. papers are really difficult. i never went to class. don't take it.

She is a great teacher and the subject matter is beyond worthy. Not for the weak-minded sorority girls or obnoxious frat boys who will be scared to identify as feminists or learn anything about society that they can't find on MTV News. Relatively easy.

I'm not sure if this is the class to take if you happen to be male. Like most of the classes in the women's studies department, you'll learn that you're to blame for everything thats happened since you were born, and maybe even stuff from before then.
