Great class, reading is difficult as it is a spilt undergraduate\ graduate class. She is a hetrodox economist, and if you don't like that, you might want to transfer universitys as the department has a hetrodox bent.

I would have been better off to just stay at home and memorize the book rather than show up to class. You can tell she is really smart and knows a lot about economics, but she is unable to "dumb it down" and actually teach to people who need help. Dry subject, dry teacher. Class average was a 60%. good luck.

Great class for international studies majors. Class is lecture style with powerpoints. Readings are on electronic reserve. 2 quizzes throughout the quarter and 3 writing assignments. Not a hard class to pass if you come to class and actually pay attention. Exam questions are straight out of the readings, lectures and videos. Dr. Hopkins is great!

This class has 3 books, quiz every week, hard take home tests (3) and essays (3), and debates. She is a one sided liberal that believes she is the only one that can be right. She is VERY unorganized and you can not follow her lectures. Interrupts you if SHE thinks you are wrong and does not care if averages on quizzes are 40%. DON'T TAKE HER!!!

Class is nothing but lecture lead straight from powerpoints. Very Dry and a great class to meet new people and chit chat about other subjects other than that of Asian Capitalism even while the teacher is teaching.. Test's are written with multiple "would-seem" correct answers that turn out to not be because she likes another answer more.

I am working on my second degree. I have taken many classes with many different professors. Barbara Hopkins is by far the worst professor I have ever had. Rude, condesinding, and useless. No point going to the class because you won't learn anything. Good luck passing the written portion of this course. The class average was 49%.

Dr. Hopkins is a WONDERFUL professor! If you want to memorize facts and spit them out in multiple choice format, then do not take her class. If you want to comprehend Social economics, then do not hesitate to register. She is highly intelligent and expects some level of academic proficiency from you. She isn't teaching kindergarten, after all.

She is out to ruin GPAs. The hardest teacher I've had in 4 years of college. I got a D in the class and I've never gotten anything under a B in my life. The class average has to be under a 70. She is obviously pissed off at the world for some reason. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!

This "teacher" gave everyone a perfect score on the homework because she never figured out how to explain the material to us. She constantly messed up on examples and would stop them if she got lost. Makes you feel worthless when possible. Her exams consist of content she nor her slides cover. Her class ruined my 4.0 GPA. Take only if necessary.

If you are unlucky enough to take her, know the book and her slides. She uses trick questions on the test but the 2 easy homework assin will boost your grade. Don't plan on anything higher than a C unless you want to know the book inside and out.

Completely incomprehensible. Worst class I've had at Wright State. Ended up with a B but the professor is not helpful AT ALL. Studied with homemade flash cards as she was useless.

I really like Hopkins and can't imagine how others didn't. She's laid back and easy going, somebody you might want to hang out with. However, even I have to say she's hard to follow, and the exams are borderline insanity. Its good this class doesn't require many assignments though.

The material is fairly easy- study the powerpoints, have a decent writing ability, go to and pay attention to lecture and you should pretty much glide through the course.

She is by far the worst professor I've had at Wright State. Says uh, uhm, and essentially, a LOT. Expects you to know ALL matrieal from several books. Seems to like to make people feel stupid when they answer wrongly. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

AWFUL professor. Simply awful. Says 'um' or 'uh' a lot. I took a tally; 765 instances of 'um' or 'uh' during lectures within 247 minutes, 4 lectures. That's just over 3 per minute. ummmmm she is better than Endres but that's not saying much. Lectures do no prepare you for exams. Very unclear. Avoid if u can, but the whole econ dept is bad!

Pretty boring classes but the material is interesting at times. The class is not difficult, all you have to do is study the powerpoints and you will do fine on the tests. It's writing intensive but she isn't to tough of a grader if you have decent writing skills.

First day of class, I thought what an awful class. After, I realized it kind of made sense if you pay close attention. Not your typical econ class, it was more like general philosophy of the economic systems.Do not miss class and take a lot of notes. She grades tough on the papers, but tests are fairly easy. Nice prof, funny, liberal and feminist.

If you take this class it is important that you note everything she says. The books are AWFUL, but if you come to class and pay attention you shouldn't need them. She knows the material well and can smell BS in papers. Her sense of humor is quirky and I thought that she was interesting.

The key is to attend every class and take detailed notes of what she talks about- then u don't even need to read assignments. Mid-term and final were take-home. She actually is very funny if you know a little about the subject - then you can recognize her quirky humor. Note everything she says - it will be useful on tests and papers.
