Dr. Young is one of the best things at Hartwick College. She is an amazing role model to all female scientists. You must put work into her classes, but you will actually learn and not just memorize. She is always willing to help students outside of class. Lovely person and great teacher.

Dr. Young is very intelligent in her field! Her classes are super challenging though, so be prepared to work hard. She is also extremely dedicated and will answer late night e-mails for help, see you for office hours, or make other arrangements to get you what you need. She also loves her students, which is very obvious as she values their needs

Susan Young is not only the best professor i have ever known but she is also a great person. For those who said she is moody, everyone has their good and bad days, deal. She is very helpful, if you show you are willing to do the work and put in the time she will put in the time also. I wish there were more teachers like her!

Was a chem major, had her 2nd semester, and she was horrible. Her class was boring, and felt like she though undergrads were a waste of her time. Made it perfectly clear to me as a chemistry major, i should not waste my time out of the chem lab. College is an experience, just as important as your studies are your extra-curriculars which she saw as something to hinder studies. When i went to her for help, she basically refused. they need to get rid of her. She is a large reason i left the chem dept.

She really knows her chemistry (but not math or physics). She teaches this 210 course as if it were 410. Her lectures don't cover the material well. Exams are both long and hard, and she rarely curves unless everyone failed. Can be very moody. Avoid if possible, especially if you strugle in Chem.
