DO NOT! I repeat.. DO NOT! take Online Journalism with her. It is a waste of time and money. If you really want to take this class and the other session is full, just wait! It's not worth it! I didn't learn a thing. She is boring and useless. Her class is basically "heres some resources, now do what you want with them" and doesnt teach you ANYTHING

Barb has an unusual voice that can be a bit tough to stay with if you pulled an all-nighter prior to a lecture but she's very accomodating and I enjoyed talking to her after class. I had more issues with my bright bulb classmates who couldn't pass open-book tests than Barb and I wouldn't mind having her for a higher-level course.

I honestly couldn't believe what a hard time with the material Barbara had. This class involves some fairly technical concepts which she had a great deal of difficulty articulating -- and if you can't explain what you're teaching, why teach? Seriously, if you are interested in learning real techniques about online publishing take another course.

I had her for Intro. to Mass Media. The class wasn't difficult at all but I can't say I learned much AT ALL and she certainly has her favorites in the JOUR DEPT. A lot of kids got by without doing much.

People made her seem worse than she really is. Overall, easy class. Just do the work, you'll get an A. I had no problem understanding the assignments....I just think other students were talking too much or not there in class, (hense thier confusion). She's not the easiest professor to talk to, but is a good resource.

This class was an easy intro class. It had some easy busy work. Barb is really a nice lady. I really enjoyed her. My class sucked. For a room full of aspiring journalist, they NEVER TALKED! WTF? But she brought up interesting topics and we had a cool project at the end. Overall, a very good class.

This woman does not have a degree in journalism. She is smart yes, however, the "working faculty" that Columbia claims to have comes in the form of a burnt-out has-been who is making her "career" teaching a subject she has no prior exp

Very nice, but somewhat flaky. The assignments were never totally clear and a lot of class time was used doing nothing. Talked with friends or left our early. All around pretty good, though.
