Dr. Levenbook is a nice lady. You can tell she cares about her students, but she's a VERY difficult grader. Her tests were the hardest exams I ever had. Her expectations for the essays are word-for-word from your notes and the lecture. I would only take her if you really have the time to dedicate to the class. She loved answering any questions.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. This was the hardest class I've ever taken. The weekly in class quizzes were open book, but super tricky. She is very picky about the wording on the essay portion of her tests. The lectures were also very boring. Philosophy is not my thing though, so I didn't care for the content either. I repeat: DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!

If you make an effort to stay on top of weekly assignments and study at least half an hour a week you should be fine. I did great on the exams with only an hour studying for each as her study guides are great. My downfall was the smaller grades such as weekly online quizzez, etc. I missed a fair few out of forgetfullness and ended up with a B.

You really need to read prior to class to be ready for class quizzes, and for your weekly quizzes. Take good notes on what she says, try word for word because she ask on exams what she said on some topics. Class participation was fine but she tries to change your reasoning all the time. I did not like that she just teach about Liberal Philosophy.

Levenbook has my ideal teaching style: to be clear in their teaching and tell me exactly how to get a good grade. Personality-wise, she kind of has a stick up her butt, but I enjoy her teaching style & am very interested in the material. If you do not pay attention to detail, this isn't the class for you, but I was attentive, & got a great grade.

All her tests are pure memorization. Not impossible to pass but you need to know the course pack front and back. She is not the greatest at review sessions in class but is helpful during office hours. She also replies to emails fairly quickly too. So memorize the coursepack, go to office hours and you'll do fine.

For an introduction class, this one goes way beyond what I would think for an intro level. Levenbook can be nice so long as you show interest in doing well. Grades on memorization, if don't have exact wording points are deducted. If you like to think a lot, this is the class (and professor) for you.

Being a class about law: know your vocabulary! She is very choosy with wording, as any lawyer should be. The class is not difficult if you read and attend lectures. The multiple choice portion of tests is tricky, just like any PHI class, but it's about wording. She is lenient on HW credit. Do it. She knows her stuff.

The key to her class is to look in the back of the course book for the review questions & answer them during class. Know the answers to her review questions = A. If you need pre-law guidance, she is your guide! She is a great teacher! And your grade will reflect how well you can follow instructions.

The pickiest multiple choice questions, requires memorization of entire course pack. Make up arguments, give you whats wrong with argument, then defends the argument. A page of words you must regurgitate on the test, for one section of the essay. Easily the worst class i have ever taken. If you are law and theory polisci major, you take it

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Listen to everyone else on here who had her for PHI205, you will regret it if you take this class! She is not very helpful, tests and quizzes are ungodly hard, do yourself a favor and take something else, GEP's are annoying I know, but DO NOT settle for this class!!!!

An absolute delight. I was surprised just how enthusiastic she was about the subject. She is not afraid of being confrontational if one uses a half baked argument, but she never crosses over into the realm of being an unbearable tyrant.

Well I disagree with the majority opinion here, which may be because I have her for philosophy of law and not the courses everyone else had. I believe she is extremely knowledgeable in all areas of the curriculum and any related topics. She also addresses issues individually and completely in class that are brought up by students.

Her tests are CRAZY! She is rude and she thinks that she is God's gift to students. She missed a test and sent in a proctor who didn't give the right directions (for writing our name/id #) and then counted off for those who did it wrong! (For the freaking name and id!)
