Weitz is the absolute best! Yes her classes are long but really fun and not hard at all! She can be a bit confusing as to when things are due but it is not that hard to figure out assignments, I mean we're in college! And she always answers emails. She really knows about film and her lectures are very informative! Going to MIFF is pretty awesome!

Longest hours of the semester because she goes over topics that are not relevant at all. She only gives you 5 to 10 minutes during quizzes. She is not clear with what she wants for her assignments. Bad professor!

Professor Weitz is very knowledgeable on film. Her lectures are very interesting. The film journals are helpful when it comes to the midterm & final, which are a bit challenging but manageable if you study. The quizzes are weirdly worded, but doable. The book doesn't really follow the way she teaches. I got it and never used it & did fine.

I don't praise taking any of her classes. She never answers her emails. She won’t let you make up assignments. You will never earn full points on assignments because she does not explain exactly what she’s seeking. She goes on tangents about different activities going on in her life. And she will humiliate you for asking her to repeat a comment.

Terrible! Don't ever take this professor, even if the description of the course seems interesting. She makes it barely possible to pass this course. It is difficult to figure out what she wants and you are labeled fairly quickly from the first day. Pretty much, if you are not interested in her study abroad she puts together, you will fail!

Very nice as a person. Not very clear on what she is looking for in her assignments, so grading is very unpredictable. Her lectures are long and drawn out, lots of wasted class time talking about Prague trip. Only recommend her if necessary. Bad with technology, so lots of wasted class time. Because of wasted time, lectures seem VERY VERY long.

I've taken had this professor for four different classes and they're very easy, she's really nice, and will try as much as she can to help you find something out or getting you in touch with someone that knows more than her. I didn't try at all and I got a B, so those who will actually try will have no problem getting an easy A.

Watching the movies is fun. But the professor can get irritating. She elongates all her words when she speaks, and ALWAYS talks about her trips to Prague. Her syallbus is SUPER vague, and she isn't helpful. But I gotta say, she is super knowledgeable in the subjct.

Took rhetoric on cinema:Disney. class was interesting, attendance is mandatory. She is a tougher grader because she isn't clear on what she wants all the time. She is terrible with technology so a lot of class time is wasted. Only talks about her Prague Study Abroad trip. She's nice though

She fails to teach efficiently. her textbook is a mess focusing only on the millions of dollars made by Hollywood...her tests do not correlate with the accuracy of her teaching to be that demanding.

Prof Weitz really knows her stuff, and her lectures are very interesting, BUT her tests are very demanding. Too demanding, imo, and I am a 4.0 GPA. There is an unrealistic amount of info covered on her tests and quizzes. She is very slow to reply to e-mails (if at all) and was never in her office. Take this only if you are VERY serious about film.

History of Film is a good course. Mandatory attendance. Mostly quizzes and tests. If you read the textbooks and follow her lectures, you will do well. Just don't wait to the last minute to do the film logs, those take a while. She thankfully does not tolerate kids who try to walk all over her. Very fun to watch her destroy them. She's fierce!

Discourse of Disney is one of the best classes I have ever taken at FIU. Instructor knows her stuff and the class discussions are very engaging. Don't listen to the negative comments, part of the fun of taking a class with Weitz is how she handles the lazy people who don't do anything, blaming their low grade on her teaching.

Was very scared going in because of what I'd read on this site. Everything turned out to be false. She is the best teacher I've had at FIU and it's the most fun I've ever had in a class. She knows her stuff and is very fair. People in class who didn't like her were the ones who rarely showed up and didn't want to put in the effort. LOVED HER!

She's a great professor! Very knowledgeable on the subject and it's obvious film is her passion. I definitely recommend taking her class if you're interested in film. Only negative: She talks pretty slow and tends to ramble a little. But if you can stand that then you should be good.

Hist of Film: Class very good overall. Some days were repetitive but professor is knowledgeable and loves film. I learned more about this topic than I thought I would. Very helpful during Office Hours. Goes over quizes and tests. You have to study! This is a 4000 level elective so don't expect an "Easy A". Prof is professional and realistic.

Discourse of Disney was a very fun class. Great discussions, fun movies, and she demonstrated excellent course knowledge. Take the class if you want to look at disney in a new way. Very underrated professor, far better than the other film instructor Bentley Baker, IMO, whose popularity with students comes from dismissing classes early.

Extremely rude to students. She is very unhappy teaching and spends more time talking about her failed side projects than anything else. If you are not a film buff she will be extremely condescending towards you. If you are a film buff she will make you hate movies. DONT TAKE HER

I took a "special topic" class with her and the entire class was wasted just watching the films... there is basically no guided discussion. She is extremely repetative and has no critical thinking skills. You can easily get an A but you will not learn ANYTHING. If you are intrested in film take Bentley Baker or Gillespie.
