The expectations for assignments were not detailed nor explained with the required book. Maybe because it is an online class, but there is barely any instruction. Even though the professor is supposed to take responsibility and explain what needs to be known. It's like a look-up-it-yourself class. Why even pay for it?

Barely shows up for online classes, took 2 weeks to get the syllabus online at the start of the semester; no one had any idea what was going on. Poor communication, doesn't seem to care about teaching. Will never take another one of his classes.

Took two online classes with Gene and he is terrible with feedback and response time. Quarter ends in a few days and out of 7 different assignments he has only graded 3 so far. I have no ideal where my grade stands. Terrible online instructor. Unsure how he gets away with such a lack of effort. Tuition felt more like a donation. Little learned.

Maybe Gene is better in class, but in this web course, he was horrid. He did not respond to emails, and when he did, he sent one liners to my novels. Gave us 3-4 projects and a MONTH A PIECE on each! Never clarified what he expected, never communicated and though I begged him for a response. Wasted money, learned nothing, regret taking this course.

Gene maybe great in class but for online courses he leaves a lot to be desired. Response to email was horrible. Took several emails and a week before any response on any of my projects. No example work for directional help. Confusing instructions. Did not use books I paid for. Wrong final grade given. Still waiting on his response to that email.

Although you may find this a plus, he requires little effort. There may be some lecture if enough people show up, but most times, he doesn't care if you're there and often has just one small project for entire quarter. Advice seems vague. Paying $300 for a class where I have to create one ad campaign in 11 weeks is useless

If you take an interest in his class and the materials at hand he is a great teacher. Helped me in and out of class. For those students who just want to coast--you'll be disapointed. He expects you to be self-motivated--Not a teacher for those who lack initiative or want to be spoon-fed.

Took online in Summer '05. It was a DISASTER. Zero instruction, no assigned readings (from a $70 text book, thank you), little useful feedback. Burleson MAY be a good instructor overall, but here he just dialed it in. He was disinterested, lazy and seemed out of touch with modern design -- the text he required was last updated in 1994!

Nice guy, but should focus on being a teacher, instead of the 'cool guy'. Whats odd, is that a classmate and myself didnt have time to do all the projects, so we split them. We turned in the exact same projects. She got an "A" and I got a "C". Hmm..imagine that.

This is the first time I have met Gene. He is a very cool guy. I enjoyed his imput in my ads and promotions class. He's a good instructor, pushy but good.
