Kenyon is an easy B but not an easy A. For one, he expects you to be comfortable writing your essays about the most personal topics. Cultural identity in your family, experiences of racism, etc. Also, he expects you to "think" hard, and arrive at the same conclusions he has reached. Not a class where you can freely disagree with the professor.

If you're on time, do your work, and ask questions/go to office hours when you need it, you'll pass the class. It's not hard, and he can seem rude but I think it's the New Yorker in him.

If you are a first gen, or a minority the odds are in your favor if you decide to take his class. DO NOT MISS HIS CLASS without a very legit reason because it tends to annoy him if you regularly miss or come in late and he will call you out. Other than that, put effort into your essays (which aren't that hard) and you'll pass with an easy A

As others have said, you need to agree with his views or else you'll have a hard time. He likes to pick on students and be mean, so he comes across as very arrogant sometimes. He pretends to be progressive and self aware but he tends to be totally insensitive to people, making rude jokes about students and stuff. He can be an ok prof sometimes.

A lot of hw (all printed) Provides pdf files of readings (Required to be printed for every class). I felt like I had to write based off of his way of thinking rather than my own. Agree with what he says and you'll be fine. On your case if you miss. Helpful hint sheets for essays;helpful to write down thoughts he talks about in class.

Kenyon is an okay prof. He tries to be funny but usually comes off as rude and arrogant. He has his days, you could say. Lots of useless busy work. Only 3 papers in this class rather than the usual 4. Go to office hours if you don't understand something, he'll help a lot. Attendance matters.

Saves his students cash by giving you PDF files to the textbooks. Definitely cares about his student's success. But don't expect to get an easy A in this class either. The essays are based on your ability to follow the writing criteria from UC, so don't go around thinking you can go ahead and express your ideas freely. This isn't creative writing.

You can fail a 1st grade spelling/grammar class, but still get an A in Kenyon's class IF you agree with his ideas on how the world works. Pay attention to what they are, and align your essays with his ideas. Do not disagree with anything he says, unless you're ok with getting a C at best.

You better agree with his opinions on how the world world or at least pretend to. He also grades you based on his idea of your ability, so maybe pretend that you're not as good of a writer as you actually are. Low key ask him about a civil lien he lost a few years ago. It's an interesting story he told us a few years ago.

He gives a lot of homework! However, they are credit or no credit so it's not that bad. I really enjoyed his class. He's pretty sarcastic so don't get offended by him. In my opinion, the essays were pretty easy, considering 3 out of the 4 are about yourself. I highly recommend to go to office hours! Helped me a lot.

I had him for Fall 2015 and he's a really chill teacher. Gives ALOT of feedback but his lectures were sometimes tangents. There's a lot of homework but it's credit or no credit. He's really helpful in office hours. Put in some effort and you'll at least get a B in this class.

The point of the class is to discuss cultural identity as it relates to the world. Kenyon has his own opinions. Either agree with his opinions, or don't expect high grades on the essays. He says there's little homework but there's actually a LOT. Not too much reading though. Put reasonable effort into his essays and you'll get at least a B.

He is a very erratic teacher. I spent more time learning to please him with my writing than how to actually write. He was very loud and also very rude. I don't think he means to be.. It's just who he is. Gives a lot of homework and essays that are extremely boring. Put in effort and you will pass but you will never get an A. He doesn't give them.

Chill guy. Some of the stuff he says, I wouldn't recommend, but you have to get over his extreme jokes. He doesn't mean anything. What I like the most about him is the fact that he really turns you into a critical thinker.
