Comment:

One of the best profs I have ever had at the University of Manitoba. Took this class because of his glowing reviews and what not disappointed. Material can be a lot to take in as it is Economics/ Graph heavy but berry does a good job of dumbing it down. Cheat sheets of both exams and a free 10% if do your readings! Thank you Berry!

Comment:

Barry is a sweetheart of a guy, he loves what he does. Lectures were boring at times, though not the worst. For the midterm/final, write down the answers from the models in the Q's textbook on the cheat sheet he gives for each model. He should post the answers on UMLearn. Overall, not too hard/busy at all.

Comment:

Just a really nice guy. Obviously loves his line of work as well as teaching others about it. You get given a cheat sheet that you can also write on as much as you want. 3 critiques are not that hard, and the final isn't cumulative so it wasn't a lot of work. Just a bit more economics than I was expected. Would recommend.

Clear material and models, it may seems boring but he knew a lot of this area. Readings are heavy and lot of paper reviews. Look into the questions he posted, that's 80% of test questions come from.

Really liked the way he set up the course and enjoyed seeing his passion for his work. Class consists of 3 written critiques (max 650 words), participation critiques, mid term and final. Both the mid term and final he provides a cheat sheet so you can be put at ease on memorizing graphs. I wish more profs at the U of M were like my boy Barry.

I took this in my final semester as a business option. I was not expecting the amount of economics involved in this class, but Barry is a great lecturer. He is extremely kind and helpful, a true visionary in the field of transportation and an asset to the university. The material can be daunting at times but not impossible with Barry's style!

Extremely nice guy! There are 3 critiques (2-page max), which grammar graded harder on. Midterm and final you get cheat sheet and it consist of three written answers. Challenging exams but read textbook and questions in the back are very similar if not same question on exams. Also non-cumulative final. The course focuses a lot on economics

Barry is the best professor I had in University. The lectures are interesting and you do feel you learned a lot from them. He is the nicest person too, very kind and there for you if you need clarify any information. If you do all the book questions A guaranteed! But, a bit tough on the grammar grading for the critiques. Definitely wouldtake again!

Very kind and care about students, easy to follow, clear notes, know his stuff and willing to answer questions. Homework may looks a lot but not hard. You only need 85% to get an A+.

One of the best profs I've had. He's ridiculously kind to his students and even though you don't have to show up to every class, you'll feel obliged to because he's such a nice person. He's a very good speaker and makes a somewhat dull subject interesting.

he's a gem of a prof... very dedicated to his profession... extremely helpful after class,but the assignmnets (paper) may seem a lot.. the best part are the cheat-sheets for the exam.. mid-term n final will test the conceptual knowledge(charts and "economic model") of the course... jus attend his classes... read the assigned reading before class...

He is really friendly and down-to-earth towards his students. I liked him alot. His methods of evaluation were a bit questionable, though. Very tough on every tiny little grammatical error, even if you have good writing skills.
