Comment:

Nice guy, easy class, but boring and vague. The textbook he assigns is from 2000 (no joke), most articles he assigns are from before 2007, and we get to build a website with outdated technology. You could probably learn to make a better quality website by yourself that's compatible with current technology and save a few thousand in tuition.

I wonder if this professor ever enjoyed teaching?! He expects class participation, but gives no credit for it. Only need to show up on your presentation day. Graded on papers and posts only! Being a dedicated student won't get you anywhere in his class. The class is always awkward because he lacks people skills, which is weird being a COMM Prof.

Dr. Saferstein is so cute and nice. He really is sweet and wants everyone to succeed. You work on a semester long project that really is not that hard. There's a lot of readings and one group "presentation" more like a discussion about that weeks readings. Overall easy class

Be prepared for long and boring lectures, seriously its a 3 hour class which is unnecessary. One of the few MASS/ COMM teachers who actually sticks to the syllabus and is very clear in what he grades you on. Participate and you'll get a good grade. 1 online post every week, 1 group project on readings, 1 midterm presentation, & 1 final presentation

Comment:

This class is super boring. The teacher is very monotone but I was on his good side so I felt like that helped. Speak up in class, ask questions, and participate and he'll recognize you for it. It also helps you in the long run. Weekly readings. Only two big papers and some small assignmnts each week. Tough class cause its boring not so much hard.

The class is relatively laid back. Homework is based on the readings via forums. He wants every student to give a presentation each week (by groups of 4, and still based on the readings). Midterm is presented to the class and a paper will be turned in on the last day of the semester. Just a reminder,he can be rude and he seems to be a know it all.

His lectures are not as engaging. There are a lot of concepts to know but he's really good at explaining and clarifying any questions you have. Only had two papers and a few little assignments. He's ACTUALLY reads your papers so take your time and don't BS. Overall, an easy class and still learned about communication patterns.

Boring lectures plus student run power points on weekly readings. Only two 6pg papers which aren't too bad as long as you keep up with the weekly reading. No tests, pretty easy other than feeling like you dont know whats going on.

There's a project you will work on the entire semester, choose something that really interest you and you will not only learn but you'll have fun while doing it! Also, you will work on analysis of readings every week (very informative and easy to understand). There's a 10 pages long final paper, presentation and mid-term presentation.

I had a very positive experience in his classroom. I quite enjoyed the experiences and the material after I left, which was great because I had no interest prior. His class is a hard one to sit through, but you have to find what interests you. Even he mentions how difficult his course is to sit through because of the terrible time of the class.

HE'S SUPER BORING. Kind of cranky. DO THE READINGS. Weekly online postings. Two papers, no tests. You're pretty much screwed if you don't understand the material, ask questions (he's not too clear when responding). Have a few friends to share papers with to see if you're on the same track of understanding. Easy A.

Easy class, not much work to do other than a 10 page paper at the end of the semester. Professor is quite rude and cranky. Do not let him intimidate you and you will get an easy B (he doesn't like to give A's) Attendance is part of the grade and weekly web postings too.

OMG he is the worst professor I have ever had! He is rude, yells at people inappropriately,and super BORING! He tries to motivate people to participate in class but then he will shoot down your opinions of they aren't aligned with his own. His class is pretty easy, but so boring that I can't sit through it. Avoid him if you can.

The course in itself was not difficult and his expectations were clearly outlined in the syllabus. One thing I will say is that he can intimidate students and be a bit grouchy at times. Be attentive, follow his suggestions and you'll do well.
