Ben is the bomb. He cares so much about everyone's work and really wants to see you succeed. He can be a little all over the place (leave during class) but once you have his attention, you have his full attention and he'll do anything to help you out. He's very passionate about ceramics and about his students' work. Take his class!

His teaching style can be a bit daunting, since he'll give hours-long demos which are a looot of info to absorb and you have to sort of direct yourself during classwork time. But if you put in a lot of effort and ask Ben for one-on-one help, you will learn SO much. He's also just a super interesting, knowledgeable, and passionate guy.

Ben is amazing. To say he really knows his stuff would be a gross understatement. He's incredibly passionate about wheelworking and eager to share his infinite knowledge. He was always readily available for help or opinions or even just interesting conversation. Even if you are struggling, he appreciates good effort. Great guy. I learned a ton.

ben is awesome. he cares, but it's a lot of tough love. He tends to let you do your own thing. he really loves what he does and it makes a difference. definitely one of the best art teachers i've had.

Ben is a very intelligent, quirky and dynamic guy, but you never know which Ben is going to show up. He can be charming and very helpful, or brusque and remote. If you catch him in a good mood he'll do all he can to help, but if he's busy or self-absorbed it's best to stay clear. He's at school almost every day, which makes him often available.

Ben Ryterband is a great guy, he's super nice and willing to help, however i didnt really get wheelworking until one of his TAs taught me how to do it. He makes it look very easy but leaves out a lot of basic details that are extremely important in controlling clay

Don't let his casual manner fool you - the man is a veritable encyclopedia of ceramics knowledge, and one of the most talented clay workersand educators I've ever met. If he lived in japan, he'd definitely be recognized as a living national treasure!

Although his eccentricity can be a bit over the top, and his manner a bit aggressive, it is no problem if you work hard and get to know him. In terms of his instruction, I have never had a better wheel throwing professor. Very knoledgable.
