Dr. Lightman is a really nice, understanding and kind professor! He is extremely intelligent and knowledgable about his subject. HUMA4227 was a very hard course though, especially as someone with no science/sci tech background. But overall, I learned alot!

Lightman: very sweet, approachable & helpful, very fair marker, (I received an A on every assignment), interesting subject matter, inexpensive books. If you're willing to come to class for attendance marks, do one presentation and two essays, and contribute a little to class discussion, consider this a bird course.

The only thing this guy is good for is an easy credit. He's easy going. But that's not what I'm paying for courses for. I'd rather have a course that challenges, and I feel like I've learned a lot from. Even the books he uses are weak so self-study isn't as easily accessible. Avoid his courses if you're a serious student.

He's easy going, and welcomes students to visit him in his office. He responds to e-mails quickly. Overall a very good professor. I would gladly enroll in any course he teaches:) The best part is if you hand in something late, he doesn't make a big deal of it, and if your essay didn't fair well, he gives you the opportunity to fix it!

An excellent professor who cares about his students. Don't be afraid to use his office hours as some of your best learning can come from these informal visits. If you are thinking about graduate school you should talk to Prof. Lightman.
