Dr. Weinstein is an alright professor. He tries to keep the class interesting. I guess it might be interesting to a physics or hard science major. Personally, I didn't enjoy the class. I'm a social science major, and I just did this class for gen. ed. credit. I'm glad I got it over with.

SUCKS Im doing well but because I study from the text book! labs are easy and worth a good portion of your grade so go to lab or only skip two so you can make them up with no penalty at the end of the semester.

He's tough, gives you a big list to study and like 10% of the huge list is actually on the tests. Makes astronomy hard even though it's a gen. ed -_- Shoulda stuck with nutrition.

Very nice guy, always stays after to take questions. between him and the T.A.s the office hours are plentiful, and the T.A.s really know what they're doing. The tests are hard, but there is a curve on the final grade. Labs and homeworks more than make up for the low test grades.

He's a nice man, and a very helpful advisor, but Astronomy is not his forte, and it shows. The TAs for me were great, but no promises for the future... Weinstein simplifies many of the more esoteric Physics concepts into common language, but as a proficient astronomer (and Physics major), it gets aggravating. Pop quizzes 50% of Fridays on average

Don't go into his class and expect him to spoon feed you. The information is there, you just have to use it properly. Study group recommended. ASK QUESTIONS! Even as an English major, loved this class and would take again. Final grades: B- and B, and the last test I didn't do any of the math. LOTS of concepts, not too much math, easy labs.

Good prof overall. Class is barely interesting but the book is good. You wont really enjoy the labs or the class but its not bad either if you have any interest. Quizzes on fridays... So my attendance grade wasn't any good... Lots of work and information from the book. You should enjoy that a little and between the book and example exams I got a B+

Decent prof but you really need to keep up with the book. Understandable in my opinion though he does get off topic based on the test information. Basically, he keeps class somewhat interesting but if you want to do good read the book and do the HW. He does offer HW help to people coming to class either before or after class. (this sem at least)

astronomy with this teacher was terrible. He is an awful teacher who just rambles on and on... Most of the material covered in class is NOT on the exam. Must read the textbook and study from it to even expect to get a C. DO NOT TAKE!

I thought he was a pretty good teacher, not the best but still good. It seems like he's well liked in astronomy, but not in physics. Astro was pretty easy though. An easy B if you do the reading and come to class. Either way, astro is easier than just about any other science class.

Lectures were fairly interesting, Weinstein may not be the greatest prof but he knows his stuff and astronomy is interesting in itself so material is easy to follow. Exams were easy in my opinion, people that complain about the difficulty need to read the fricken book. This is coming from a student with a B average. Read the book and go to lecture

DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR ASTRONOMY. He is confusing and gets lost in his thoughts. Unable to break down information in a way that makes sense. Grading procedures are rediculous, TAs aren't much help. If you do get stuck, best bet is to take your own notes out of the book. Quizes on random Fridays.

The worst teacher at the University of Buffalo. Horrible teacher who doesn't care about the students grade. Astronomy is the hardest class that ruins your GPA even though it is just a science requirement. You probally think that I am a lazy student who doesn't care, but I had a 4.0 for 3 years before taking Astronomy with Weinstein.

worst teaher. he does not know simple math calculus. All the time he forces heimself to put minus in front of anything. for example he won't say 2, he would say -[-2]. his exams are so hard and i bet you that he does not know even high school physics.

His lectures were often quite boring and not terribly helpful, but he did occasionally go through problems or do demos. You could skip them every time and miss nothing. The exams were pretty difficult, even with a formula sheet. Homework assignments weren't any easier. Not the greatest teacher ever, but could have been worse.

he reads off the computer and tells you everything that's on the site. The tests are crazy hard. You got to work extra hard. The final consists of 130 or 140 points.
