Comment:

Prof. Atsma does what he loves and loves what he does and you can tell. He has a great sense of humor and is very reasonable with the amount of material. In the book, the material goes into great detail, but he will discuss exactly what he will test on, the main detail, and its a huge help. He is appropriately strict. All pros, no cons for me.

He is a really nice professor. He is clear on what to expect from the class and what he expects from you. A&P is a hard class regardless but he will make it a little less difficult.

VERY GOOD. Caring, straight forward and passionate about biology. He understands what is important for basic biology. Great all around professor. Encourages questions and is not there to trick you. Literally wants you to know the material. Loved this professor.

BEST PROFESSOR YOU CAN EVER TAKE FOR BIO 105! He explains everything you need to know with great detail, lectures are never boring, he makes lots of cheesy jokes. Although he has a fun personality please do not be mistaken, if you do not study you will not pass, he goes above and beyond to give you the best material to understand& pass his exams

Professor Atsma is the best A&P teacher. I would take him for all my science classes if I could. He is very strict about attendance, so come to class and ON TIME! His tests are fairly easy as long as you study. He gives you all the material you need to know for quizzes and exams, nothing more, nothing less. He's awesome! Would definitely reccomend

I'll admit I ended up taking his class by accident because it was the last day of registration. Call it a blessing in disguise because Professor Astma is an amazing lecturer. The comedic value alone is worth the price of admission. His rules might be too much for some but I understand why its there. To provide a comfortable learning environment.

Atsma is by far the greatest professor I've ever had! He is intelligent, kind, & explains the material extremely well. He is very thorough and has the ability to simplify the material (which is difficult on its own) in a way that clicks. So far I have an A+ in his lab, it's my only chance of passing bio 105 having Dunscombe as a lecture professor..

This was a hard course for me. I would not have received an A,if not for his excellent teaching skills. His radio voice and condusive environment helps make learning much easier. He uses mnemonic devices and Atsma's Smart Memory tricks, which really help ameliorate the heavy load of memorization. He's the best Science teacher I have come across.

Great professor, very informational; he gives the best analogies if you don't understand the material being lectured. Get ready for pop quizzes(you should be fine if you read over the last lecture) He's very strict on arrival time also print all the slides(take notes)

He gives many chances for extra credit & dropping lowest grade. If you follow his suggestions and study his slides you will pass. He WANTS you to do well; he cares. It's a tough subject and you DO need to put time in at home. If you fail it is definitely your own fault; he has gone above & beyond to deliver the material in a clear & interesting way

He is more than willing to help. He definitely knows the material. Attend class on time, follow his study tips, and you'll be in great shape. His dry humor and analogies help the class fly by. Don't expect an easy A unless you already know the material. He offers extra credit and drops the lowest test grade. Good luck.

smart professor, really knows his stuff. allows a cheat sheet for each exam and a full page back and front for final and gives pop quizzes. study his slides and you will pass. attendance is mandatory, a little long winded but goes off on tangents at times. mastering a&p is very important! don't be late to class he is very strict

Really great professor! Gets you into the lectures! He provides you with everything you need to pass, its mainly up to you to study. The course in general is hard despite the teacher. However, he does not use the book as much to teach and his test questions are straight forward. Overall, enjoyed his class!

Comment:

Took him in the summer for Bio 105 and loved him. I would definitely take him again if I could. Not sure how he teaches in the fall and spring, but in the summer he would give out pop quizzes and if you got both questions right, it was extra credit. If you got them wrong, they didn't count against you. You must study to pass him exams!!!
