Comment:
This class is a ridiculous amount of workload, especially if you're not an architecture major. There will be 2-3 readings that could be up to 30 pages each, with videos that are either TEDtalks or 50+ min documentaries. Then you take a 10 question quiz that'll make you look for a specific quote in a 25-minute time limit. Too much work for a gen-ed.

She is an amazing professor and cares about what she does. Gives extra credit. It is not hard to get an A but it is time consuming. Being online she gives a lot of materials to go over and call back on for the weekly quizzes. She cares about all her students. loved the class but was to time consuming for me as a gen-ed, learned great stuff though.

This is an online class, theres discussions posts every week that you need to do and theres a simple quiz every week that you can do without even reading the readings. The projects are a little tough if youre not creative, but not impossible. Overall the class wasnt that tough and Id say to take it if you want to put in minimal effort for an A or B

Professor Tauke is very knowledgable and passionate about the material you're learning. Weekly, you take an online quiz and answer two discussion questions, which depending on how good you are at writing can take as few as 2 hours to do everything needed for the week. I wouldn't recommend to anyone who isn't good at writing/being creative.

This class is an un-necessary amount of work and takes up multiple hours of the week and not giving much time for more important classes. She's a nice teacher and pretty understanding but I don't recommend this class if you have a heavy course load or don't like political topics.

Soon after finishing this class, I visited one of the structures we discussed in lecture and emailed Prof. Tauke about it with a photo and she raised me a full letter grade. She is one of the most interesting and dedicated people, let alone professors, that I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Absolutely take this class for your humanities credit

A true gem of a person. As a professor a little scatter brain, but its worth every second of time spend on a tangent.

Like Beth so much! She is such a nice professor who does care about her students and is always there to help you. Sometimes she did pick some random stuff as rewards for those who answer her questions in class. She is a tough grader but just for those who don't read the requirements carefully.

pointless course. had so many guest speakers at the end of semester that she didn't really teach. 4 2000 word papers in a term that she strictly grade. quizzes every tuesday and critical thinking questions thursday

charming old woman. One of the easiest Architecture professors at UB. Understood that class shouldnt be about everyone failing, and made it almost impossible to do so. Grading consisted of 4 papers, all graded easily. short 10 question test per class, making attendance mandatory, but overall a very easy course.

very interesting class with a very interesting professor. she can be kind of spacey, but she's funny and theeee sweetest woman. the classes and assignments are clearly outlined, which is helpful. four major projects for the whole semester, a quiz every tuesday, critical thinking question every thursday which require you're attendance. <3 this class

Beth Tauke is a very genuine and sweet person. the topics covered in class were very interesting but the grading was done strictly on four papers that mostly everyone did poorly on. although she says she doesn't curve the grades she pretty much does.

WARNING!! IF YOU ARE A NON-MAJOR SPECIALLY AN ENGINEERING AND YOU'RE TAKING ALL THOSE PHYSIC AND CALCULUS CLASSES, DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!! Nothing against the class or the professor, instead its somehow interesting but sometimes you wish spending more time on your other classes rather than writing those paper projects or reading those long articles

Took this class instead to fulfill the American Pluralism requirement. I believe it would have been alot less work to just take UGC211 but this ended up being a pretty interesting class. The work isn't overly difficult but the volume is pretty substantial.

Great Professor! Unlike too many teachers at UB, she really cares about the quality of the education that students receive in this class. On the flipside, there's alot of work to do. Four 2000+ papers, weekly readings (that get quized), and weekly 'in-class' response. Still, I strongly recommend this class.

LOVED this course. Lots of papers to write but they're interesting and really make you think. I enjoyed going to her class the most out of all my classes last semester. There is no textbook but she assigns readings as PDF's. You NEED to read them to do good on the quizzes!!
