Comment:

As long as you attend class, take good notes, and do the homework for practice, you will be in good shape. Studying the homework problems and the way she sets up her old test helped me the best. From what I have seen, Dr. Barr answers all questions very effectively, so do not be afraid to ask her anything if you don't understand it!

Comment:

Taking a computer class from Dr. Barr is reminiscent of Grandpa Simpson's exclamation, "My car gets thirty rods to the hogshead, and that's the way I likes it". Her info was dated. She struggled with Excel 2007 while trying to demonstrate it. She seems annoyed at having to deal with freshmen. I've heard she's nicer to her 2- and 3- level students.

Dr Barr, dont know what to say about her, had her for 3 classes and went from a B+ (ece1331) to B (ece2331) to C+ (ece3331), ece3331 isnt too bad, the tests were tricky and didnt really test programming knowledge just little intricacies of C. no more barr after this! :-)

Looking back as a practicing civil engineer of 13 years, w/ the exception of the Linear Algebra, her INDE 1331 and 2331 Classes were the most time consuming, labor intensive, outdated, and useless classes I ever had to take to get my degree. I've worked in diverse very areas throughout my career, but never had to use the stuff.

Dr. Barr is a great teacher. She is one of the btter teachers that I have had. ece1331 and 2331 were pretty easy. People that complain about difficulty should maybe consider a different major. She is clear on everything that she expects and knows her stuff. If you think that the things done in matlab are hard, you probably should practice more

This class was so much easier than 1331. To do good in her class you going have to attend class and study a lot. Once you take her for 2331 you will see that see hates the 1331 class.

Honestly if you want to pass this class you need to start studying from day one. If you get behind your screwed. the tests are extremely hard. Matlab is the majority of the class so your gonna have to stay on task, its a really hard class and if you don't put all your focus on it, you'll be there again next semester.

Horrible at teaching, could barely read her handwriting. She clearly wants to fail people. Treats people like crap. Tests are ridiculously difficult...Homework assignments are due in the morning with a waiting time of 6 hours!! horrible horrible person. She doesn't have a heart. Surprisingly interesting how she lives without a heart.

The first half of the class doesn't even have a text book and she doesn't teach most of the stuff in class meaning your stuck looking for everything on google. She also tries to take points off for every little thing because she wants you to fail. When you are tested over matlab,she asks extremely specific problems that require long answers.Useless

I?m a slacker and I got an A- in this class. The key to succeeding in this class is by doing the projects-not only on the computer?BUT by writing the code down on paper and saving the papers for studying for exams. If your ?paper programming? skills are inferior to your ?computer programming? skills, you are not going to do well in the class.

Study the coursenotes(base,CLIs,graphics),practice Excel and Matlab(KNOW how the commands work do not memorize syntax),ask questions, go to office hours (she is extremely helpful), work hard -- this is your test to take the rest of the Engineering courses.

She is good instructor when it comes to presentation of the concepts. She is however hard in testing and exams. She will help you if you go to her office or ask her question after class but it all depends on her mood. Those who say that she is good teacher in every aspect I totally disagree with them.

She is a good teacher as far as concepts are concerned. However, she tries to cover too much material for this class in 4-5 months long semester and makes the test rediculously hard and confusing(books wont help). Honestly speaking, It is very difficult to get out of this class with a decent grade in first attempt unless u r extremely bright.

Well... people don't like her very much after taking 1331... and she is kinda anti-social... but having said that, she is a pretty good teacher, (especially for ece 2331) and knows what shes doing. the worst parts of the tests are usually made my Wosik, not her, by the way. Do as many practice tests as you can, and make yourself like programming.

Dr. Barr is a good teacher, but she makes ridiculous hard exams. Do not think because you are smart you will easily pass the class. The class is designed to make you work hard. Make sure you understand the projects crystal clear because more than likely a variation will be on the test. Start studying three weeks before the exam.
