Comment:
PG 313 is a very easy, but also interesting class. There are very few graded assignments, all of which can be done in collaboration with other students. The only challenge is time management because there are no official deadlines. Haltom is hilarious and knows a lot about the subject he is teaching.

Bill is a great guy, very friendly and easy to get along with. I came out of his US Politics class knowing little about politics but knowing tons about how to think, and view the world around us. That being said if you want some hard core politics, don't take him. He really focuses on teaching you how to think and not what to think.

I took classes with Wild Bill nine freaking years ago. In one he had a simple message about the media that he tried to communicated in a repetitious way, and he used good books to illustrate his point. I still remember what I learnt in that class, when most others are just a blur. I think it's worth taking.

It depends what you're looking for.Need film trivia? Jonesing to hear his experience attending catholic school? Take Wild Bill courses. Want your prof to give constructive feedback on papers, feign interest in the class material, or actually teach? Don't take his classes. That said, if you do the bare minimum you're guaranteed at least a B+.

He was one of my first professors ever, and I could tell right off the bat that he was different. Wild Bill teaches unlike anyone else, and this works well for some and not so well for others. He is casually honest and subtly crazy. 9/10 would take another class with him, but my major is Pol. Theory, not US Pol., so I might not get the chance. :(

This class was honestly a waste of my time. Nothing in the class really helped me with my writing. Haltom didn't seem to care about the class, which made his students not care. Take 250 from ANYONE else.

I am writing 20 years after having him (for 6 classes) and I still think he was the best prof I had at UPS. He's honest, straightforward, clear and knows how to run a discussion. Those people who prefer a lecture, take someone else. But if you want to learn something useful, take Wild Bill.

Very easy class. Open note tests and he gives you the questions and answers before the class. However, class often felt like a waste of time. I think Bill was bored so we spent most of the class talking about topics not entirely related to what we tested on. Answers were easy to look up online or look in the index of the textbook.

I've taken several classes with Bill. Bill's classes are often mistaken for "unstructured" or "off the wall" but this is only because Bill dares to take his courses where other professors do not. He is highly accessible, so if you get confused, he's happy to clear things up. His style is wild, but he is a wealth of knowledge. TAKE HIS CLASS!

classes are hit or miss. I have taken several classes with him and have always liked him as both a person and a professor, but as a thesis advisor, he's been less helpful than in the past. his comments on drafts are unclear. that said, it's nice reading through your drafts watching your writing get better each time. he's also horrible about email

If you take PG101 from Bill, it's pretty easy. Open-note tests and he gives you the questions beforehand. I liked the class because I know nothing about politics and it's an extremely introductory course. Going to class is NOT necessary, although I like to because he's a funny guy and I respect him.

Professor Haltom is very friendly, tries to engage students, and has a lot of knowledge on the subjects he is teaching. That being said, the class/course lacks much structure, and you basically will get out of it what you put into it. You won't learn anything more than basic poli/gov information.

Bill is a nice guy, although he is one of those people you either really like or you really don't. He has that whole anti-authority attitude about him. Don't take him if you like an enormous amount of structure or someone always reminding you to do your homework: he is not one of those profs. He is very helpful if you go to him for help.
