Toughest professor I've ever had! He seems very intimidating at first, but he's actually kind. Make sure you STUDY hard!!! I don't want to say "don't get the textbook," but his tests mostly rely on his lectures.

This Professor is quite a character! He establish a fearful and intimidating class environment. He bullies you; constantly drops F bomb, and destroy your curiosity for learning with his derogatory feed backs no matter how hard you try. Prepare yourselves for a taste of fascism and be treated like an inmate. Avoid, avoid, and avoid at any cost!!!!!

Bill is a heck of a teacher. He knows his stuff, and he passes on his knowledge in production with eagerness. He has been helpful, and inspiring. I have seen his work and believe he is a class act. I was fortunate to have him when he first started teaching, and he was inspiring. Just another bonehead & proud of it.

BROOKLYN COLLEGE'S FILM GOD. Learn from him he will not waste your time, and if you don't understand something YOU WILL NEVER WASTE HIS he will spend consecutive days and hours helping you understand it rather than complain and "have something to do" like other professors! Highly recommended!

Professor Hornsby is a brilliant man and knows his stuff. I've learned so much from him and am taking him again for Advanced Cin. If you are lazy and unmotivated, you are not going to do well in his class, obviously!

Doesn't work in the field any more, has been teaching the course for 21 years (non-tenured and bitter), no hands on lighting exercises, no hands on splicing instruction. People were still having framing issues in week 15 with no correction/instruction from Hornsby, just beratement and unprofessional comments from a man who has clearly given up.

Great professor! He'll yell at you a lot in 40.2 (less in adv cin if you take it), but he's really a nice, understanding guy. You'll learn a lot with one of the best at the film department.

I am now pursuing a Master's in film and I must honestly say that his lectures are still in my head. He understands that saying something loud and repeating it over and over will help students remember. His two most famous quotes came from mess ups. "That is the best flat lighting ever" & "Get the f*cking key light off the f*cking wall"

I learned alot from him. He's willing to spend hours after class but isn't available the rest of the week. Sometimes he'll yell at students. Frequently spends too much time evaluating projects. Many times the class runs 1-3 hours past the official end time! Overall he knows a lot and is willing to take the time out to explain things to you.

I think he is a great professor. You learn more from mistakes that he yells at you about. His intention is not to make you feel stupid but to make you think and learn. And cinematography is not for everyone.

On the surface he comes off as Mr. nice Guy, however, he doesn't really give you the hands on needed to make it in the business. I got the feeling all he wanted to do was find any mistakes any of the students made and make them feel foolish. For this course better off at NYC. or Columbia
