Randy is the guy to take for 44 (also had him for 24). You will definitely need the textbook he gives quizzes every week. Toughest part of this class is the practicals, but I promise you'll survive. For the final exercise its ESSENTIAL (can't stress that enough!) to meet outside of class and practice A LOT if you really want a good grade.

my favorite RTVF professor. He really shoves the lessons into your brain. He isn't as flexible as I'd hope though. I think Randy is our number 1 fan so he only wants us to do the best we really can. The class is different every semester so it's really hard to give a good review. It's just like every other class. a lot of out of class work.

Randy is a great guy. However this was the first time he ever taught the Field Editing with Avid class. He repeated himself and for those of you who are already great editors it will just piss you off because you already know the material, most of the 2nd half of the semester you are editing. He makes the class way more serious than it needs to be.

Class is bizzare format. 3 days p week spent on equipment, while 1 day is a lecture session + a Quiz about material not covered in either, rather in the txtbook. Horrible professor! If you actually learn Avid it's NOT because of him...it's because of other RTVF students or Jaime Cohen. He's never in his office when he says he's going to be. Not helpful at all. And picks favorites. If you're not tech-savvy, he's not going to like you. You have to read the textbook for quizzes.

Randy is a great teacher. He was also my acedemic advisor. He helped me a lot when i got to hofstra. From day one he was helpful, and i found he has a unique teaching style which I related to. He has a sense of humor, but when he needs to be serious he is. GREAT teacher, I highly reccomend him!!! He was my favorite teacher at Hofstra.
