Malas is fine as a person, but as a professor he can be very unpleasant. Bible in Current Perspectives is possibly the least engaging class I have ever taken.

I found this class pretty boring, and I really wanted to like it. He rambles the entire time and his lectures are really hard to pay attention to for very long. I hear everyone around me complaining as well. Tests are pretty difficult, but there's not a whole lot of homework other than reading, so it's not that difficult of a course otherwise.

Not sure why people seem to have a problem with him. He's not the easiest teacher, but he gives PLENTY of extra credit, enough to boost you an entire grade point. And I'm not sure where people are getting this "being condescending" nonsense....

As long as you study for his tests, even though they can be beastly you should be ok. He tends to tell you what questions are on them before the test so you know what to study! He really gives an interesting view on the Bible and religion as well!
