I love this man. I took his class 20 years ago and am still influenced by him. I am a science teacher, and have incorporated many his ideas into my teaching. I took Animal Behavior at ESF and Ornithology at Cranberry Lake. He is among the best teachers I have ever had.If you're reading this, Bill, thank you.

Dr. Shields, and his animal behavior class, motivate you to use your brain. As both a brilliant and charismatic professor, his style is unforgettable. The content of his course maintains its relevance years after taking the class, but the most memorable of all his traits is his enthusiam for what he teaches - the best kind of infectious.

This class was one of the classes i got the most out of at ESF. His unique style of teaching allows the students to actually think about topics instead of simply memorizing facts. The class also teaches you how to convey your ideas in a manner so that everyone else will understand you instead of using complex scientific jargon.

This class was a waste of my time. It's an easy A for 4 credits but if you're a guy, don't expect to get much help from him. He is a dirty old man that only teaches the class so he can look at all the girls.

This is the best course and best teacher I have come across at ESF! He is extremely approachable, willing to help, and also willing to tell you where you went wrong so that you can grow as a scientist. I recommend this course and anything else Bill teaches to EVERYONE!

I thought this class was way overrated, we didn't seem to talk about much in class. From what I gather this year was different from others, but I was disappointed in the class. Definitely makes you think though. Go to the review sessions at varsity they will help tremendously.
