He was an amazing teacher. He doesn't give out homework, which kind of sucks because you have to do well on the tests. But he is really good at explaining Nd really goes into detail. I would recommend taking his class.

Comment:

By far one of the best teachers to take the anatomy and physiology series with. These classes aren't easy, but he makes them easier to understand and encourages you to come see him with questions and bring questions to class. Lecture driven, highly recommend recording the lectures so you have complete notes. Loved this class!

Comment:

There is a whole bunch of information that you have to learn in a very short amount of time. Shean was good at explaining complicated information simply. There were little quizzes throughout the week, which helped me keep on top of all the information. The tests were mostly stuff covered in lecture, although there were a couple surprises.

It's not a very easy class in general, don't expect to get an easy A. However, Dr. Shean is extremely easygoing and I would go as far as saying sympathetic that it's a lot of material to learn in short period. 90% of exam questions are strictly from lecture. Oh, and take your time on lab write ups!

Great teacher but tests can be difficult and very vague. Always ask for clarification when taking the tests. Quizzes are every week and tend to be over things you just learned but sometimes are cumulative. Ask for help as soon as you start falling behind in the class. He is willing to help if you ask

He is a good teacher in the sense that if you ask for help he is more than willing to help and he does say in his class that we have to do most of the leg work on studying. The main thing i didn't like about him is he will put some random questions on his test that we did not go over or that he mentioned 1 time.

Mr. Shean is a brilliant man. His knowledge about biology is extensive, however he seems to have difficulty teaching it. His lectures were often very unorganized, and hard to follow . If you're the kind of person that can learn by just reading the textbook, you'll probably do fine, but expect to put in much more study time than for an average class

He is a great teacher but its a lot of material in a VERY short amount of time, 9 chapters in the first 2 12 weeks. HEAVY emphasis on physiology. Lab is all fill in the blank, class tests is variable. Pay attention to the lectures and study guides, start reading the text ahead of time. You will need to understand basic chem as well.

He must've changed his curriculum because his class is hard! I really studied but still didn't do well on the exams. All the biology teachers are a complete joke and don't care if they fail you. My class average is a C. He even stated his final exams show a pattern where most students fail. Save yourself from retaking A&P and go elsewhere!

GREAT teacher, definitely a favorite! Very approachable, accessible for help, and writes/draws everything on the board---great for a visual learner. Tests are based on his lectures- take notes on anything he writes. If he mentions to look something up--do it! It's usually extra credit on a quiz or test. Requires much less info mem than others.

Dr. Shean is one of the best professors at YVCC. Attendance is not mandatory but sure will do poorly on quizes if u miss class.No pop quizes bcz he tells u when ur havin a quiz. He is the best coach! He is there to help students and not weed out. Make sure u record his lectures bcz thats where quizes come from.Take really good notes and ul b fine

Dr. Shean is by far one of the best professors at YVCC. This is a tough class no matter who you take it with, but he makes it fun and easy to understand. Almost all quiz and test material comes directly from the notes, so take good ones!!! I hardly used the book unless I needed clarification. If you have to take this class take it with Shean!!!
