A lot of reading and discussion questions on the test. Not too much homework, but get ready to read. Class is boring if you don't participate. He may come off rude, but he is not, he really cares about his students doing well. Attendance matters or you will be left behind.

Blakey assigns a lot of reading, but everything he assigns is accessible and fundamental to the field. There's no unnecessary or boring work, and the class discussions make the class an amazing experience. Blakey is passionate, energetic, funny when he gets on a tangent, and overall a gifted prof. His love for the field is easy to share.

In the beginning of the class he requires 3 some-what cheap books. They are all necessary because he gives out easy homework of reading approximately 10-15 pages so you are prepared for the lectures. His lectures simplify the class and the reading, so just show up and write everything he writes down and study and you'll get a grade.

He is a great professor! You really have to apply yourself. If you aren't paying attention, you won't get anything out of it. Lectures are fantastic, and engaging. Don't know if I passed or not because of not doing journals, but I'll take it again with him if I dont.

Blakey is one of the few professors that cares about his students. He will let you know first day of class that he will only take attendance 3 times, however he also notes that missing one day of class will set you back. He is not lying. If you do the assigned readings, turn in all assignments, and come to class everyday you will pass.

His class really got you to think about the questions we may take for granted. He gives great feedback on hw and goes by the due dates on the syllabus. The work that is assigned is normal for a college class. His lectures are not boring!!!!The tests are easy if you know the material and have studied before hand. Overall great class! Learned alot

Good professor who knows what he's talking about. Tough grader on tests and papers so you need to study and double check. Has papers, tests, and homework revolve around textbooks so you need them asap. Lectures can be boring but doable. Willing to help if you ask him. Gives study guides and clear guidelines for papers and tests. Highly recommended.

Mr. Blakey is a great teacher. He comes to class very prepared every day and gives very clear lessons on the content. However, this class is definitely not an easy A. It is not impossible to get an A, but you do have to work for it. Although it is a bit of a challenge, it is a very enjoyable class and teaches many interesting philosophical content.

Out of my 2 years at this college, Prof. Blakey has been the best professor I've had. He's so amazing and is able to compress so much information with the ability to explain it all so thoroughly. I really recommend him!!!

Professor Blakey was a great teacher! He is what you think of when you talk of a college professor. His class isn't an easy A but if you engage in the discussions the class becomes more interesting and much easier. I worried about taking the class but left enjoying philosophy. Takes attendance with daily quizzes on previos nights reading.

Blakey is the man, he is real down to earth and he is a chill teacher. No surprises on the test, he clearly states what will be on the tests. Two essays which weren't that hard and even in a crammed winter session I did not feel that he gave that much work. Also he always goes over the readings in class.

You can tell he has a lot of time on his hands because he looks thoroughly through the test and homework, so you cant bs your way through it. Basically, take this class if you're going to be a philosophy major. If you're taking this class because it's a requirement , take an easier one. You won't get an easy A in this class.

Prof. Blakey was a very helpful and clear teacher. He really cared that everyone in his class understood the material and genuinely wanted the class to do well. This class is not challenging if you are willing to put in work reading, writing, and googling concepts that may seem confusing. Overall, Blakey makes an A very achievable for anyone.

Literally my favorite teacher. The class is easy as long as you do all of the readings and turn in assignments on time. There's no right or wrong answer to any topic. He'll give you a good grade as long as you participate and put in effort. One of the best classes I've taken at COC.

For an older man, he's quite cute with a hip taste in music. But really, he's extremely nice and lets anyone that wants to talk talk. If you need help, he will give it to you. Daily quizzes that stop halfway through. He is a great person to just talk to anyways. I would LOVE to take this class again.

A really great teacher, but don't expect to be given an easy A. Everything he gives out is completely fair, but don't expect to be able to cut corners. This is one of the few classes at COC that I felt I really gained a lot from.

Quality professor. Class is always enjoyable. Class discussion is encouraged and everyone gets a chance to speak. Quizzes are easy if you did the reading. His essay prompts look easy at first, but get started on them early because they're harder than the prompt makes them seem. He has a cool mustache too.
