He is very specific with his grading, if you don't answer a question the way he wants it answered it will be wrong. He gives many pop quizzes to "boost your grade", so make sure you read the material. he will skip all of the good parts of any movie and try to explain what is happening so a 2 hr movie is only 25 mins. all he does is talk!

Bob blackburn is horrible he has long boring lectures which seem to drag on and gives lots of writing assignments. If you don't have exactly what he wants written down you will fail... Shouldn't fail a CORE class but you will with him.

worst professor i have ever had. confusing, doesn't know how to properly teach a class. knows what hes talking about but definitely does not know how to teach it formally to students. exams are extremely hard and all open ended questions too.

Even though it was a CORE class he really made it interesting for everyone. He was also very helpful and understanding if problems arose and you couldn't submit assignments on time. Pay attention and contribute and you will have a fun class

This professor gives a lot of pop quizzes! If he announces he will be giving a quiz, study or you will mostly fail it! There are writing assignments outside and inside of class. He is a nice guy, and likes to constantly ask the class what they think. A little bit boring since it is an hour and 20 minutes. He is willing to meet with students.

had prof blackburn fall of 2009 for lit/ phil and loved it. i didn't quite understand the material until maybe halfway through the course, not due to his lack of teaching ability, just trying to adjust to his style of teaching. i found it somewhat difficult to weed out the material needed for the tests from his lectures, but he is awesome

prof blackburn is a great guy. his classes are basic lecture style, with discussion from students on what you're reading in class at the moment. really chill, fair, and cares about his students and wants them to do well.

Blackburn is awesome. He lectures a lot and class is a little boring, but if you read the material it is easy to draw connections from what he's talking about. He is clear with his explanations and writes good notes. Be prepared for each class because there are pop quizzes and writing assignments all the time.

I don't know how people didn't understand him, he is very clear in his lectures and as long as you attend class and take notes you'll do great. He's a great guy and teacher; never talks down to students like some teachers. I'm taking him again next semester!

yes the class can get boring cause he talks all throughout it and doesn't let you out early. he's really into what he teaches and its not so bad. pop quizzes but if you do the readings you'll be fine. midterm and final aren't cumulative. a couple papers here and there but they aren't bad. hes a really really nice guy.

Awesome guy. Classes can get boring because he goes on talking to himself about the topics. He's really into what he teaches. Kind of a lot of pop quizzes, but as long as you do the readings you'll be fine. Final isn't accumulative, there are a few papers that aren't long and are pretty easy.

People fall asleep in his class, but I don't know why; both he and the subject are very interesting. If you need help, he will give you advice, and he knows everyone in the school, because he's been there forever. Bob: A nice guy.

Blackburn is a great professor for Core 104. As long as you pay attention in class and do the reading assignments you are golden. He didn't require any presentations or public speaking which was a plus. Try not to miss class because he gives quizees often which are easy, but if you miss it, you can not make it up. A great guy.

Honestly, the class would be a thousand times better if it wasnt an hour and a half long 930 to 11, I can't fight the need to fall alseep in his class, its an interesting concept, but will even drive a kid who just did a bunch of speed and caffiene pills to sleep. he gives reading assignments then talks to himself about it the whole time.
