This professor is terrible. He is way too old to be teaching a class about anything. Half of his lectures are just ramblings about absolute off-topic things (i.e, dunk driving, suicide, liviing in the woods) and doesn't teach anything but his old view on religion, a terrible professor- but a nice guy...

He is by far one of the best professors at this school. He is one of the most intelligent men you will ever meet. His class transcends the curriculum, and affects life.

I am on my sixth class with Dr. Byrd (all mandatory), and he is a great professor. He is always willing to help students (even though it may require talking to him outside of class). He has been a professor for many years, and he has some really good perspective on the stuff he teaches as well as life in general. His class can be a a little boring.

I really would not encourage this class to anyone but my enemy. the Group project sucked big time, and the test sucked cause there was no guide at all, and he graded down on grammer and spelling and stuff on a essay test when your trying to write 3 essays in one hour. It really was not the class i thought it would be, and I just hated the class.

A very smart man, but unclear on expectations for the assignments, and not timely with feedback on assignments and tests. Essay tests with no study guide--basically anything from the lectures, the films or the reading is fair game. That's not a bad thing--this IS college, after all--but if you want to be spoon-fed, don't take this class.

Dr.Byrd is an amazing professor. Imagine an incredible scholar, a wonderful pastor, and a beloved grandfather all rolled into one. I have had Dr. Byrd for many Greek classes, and his passion for the subject has helped me to become passionate as well. If you want to be a serious student in Greek, then study under Dr. Byrd.

I did not enjoy this class to much. He was never really with what he wanted on his papers. Had some strange beliefs, and would go sometimes 30 minutes over class time....... :::sigh::::

In a day of "new and improved," Dr. Byrd is a fresh dose of "tried and true." When you receive your grade in his class there is a sense of accomplishment because you have earned it. A "tried and true" expectation - a good work ethic. He has a head full of knowledge, heart full of life experiences.

If you're serious about learning Koine Greek then Dr. Byrd is the man. For all the complaints people have with boredom, he makes Greek fairly interesting seeing as the subject itself is what you make of it, My highest recommendation, and it is a privilege to study under him hands-down.

The class itself was very hard but Dr. Byrd was a great professor. He always took time to make sure the concepts were understood and was more than willing to answer any question that came up in class. I would take him in the future.

Comment:

Hard class, but he is a fun, friendly, caring teacher who wants you to do well. Doesn't give tons of work. Tells funny stories. Sometimes I don't know where he's going with what he's telling us about the subject on hand, but he's still a good teacher. Besides you don't have a choice for Greek.

I had Dr. Byrd for Upper Level New Testament class. I HATED IT!!! He's awful. His tests are easy enough, but he is sooo boring, and gives way to much work. The assignments aren't clear either. Don't take him if you can avoid it.

Byrd is a good teacher, in that he is knowledgeable and provokes interest in the subject matter. The one complaint I can offer is that his tests were poorly written and did not allow students to show what they had learned.
