Dr. John's photography instruction was lacking. As someone who already knew basic photo composition style and DSLR operation coming into the class, I noticed he mixed up terminology and was factually wrong in some instruction (like sensor ISO). His expectations for assignments were murky. His instruction on HTML code editing was outdated.

He is one of the WORST teachers I've ever had.. and that's saying a lot because I love school. He changes the rubric and his Photo Communication class is a joke. I want to cry he makes me so mad with how condescending he is. Avoid at all costs

Dr. John's assignments are very clear. He is very strict with timelines so you had better post in a timely manner. Class was interesting and incorporated a various mediums such as pdf, videos, audio files. I liked the class and I liked the fact that I always knew where I stood.

Horrible class. he always lets us out early. and usually i like to be let out early here and there, but he makes it an everyday thing. for a COM teacher, he gives horrible lectures. and when going over our photos, he's very biased. he doesnt teach at all. he sends us out of the class room for 45 minutes to find what couldve been and awesome picture

RUDE! RUDE! RUDE! He doesn't give constructive criticism he insults the student work. He is bias, and randomly gives out points based in his roller coaster of emotion that he has in him. 100% the WORST teacher at wsu!!!! Stay away from him he will make u hate writing!!! This is the first time I've felt the need to rate a prof in 4 years. I carry a great GPA at WSU, and I don't take kindly to teachers that base your grade on more of a lottery than knowledge. The exams are a toss up at best. When I take a test I'm well prepared. These tests are not a valid scale of knowledge. Avoid this teacher.

Very rude and unpleasant. I watched a student try to ask him for help and he rolled his eyes at her. He seems to bring personal problems into the class room and has an unhappy disposition. He acted like he didn't want to be there & had no clue about the material he was trying to teach. Avoid.

I've taken 2 classes with him so far and am not impressed. He's making subjects I would normally enjoy into ones that bore me. He'll critique assignments on concepts he hasn't yet taught. His assignment instructions are unclear and he'll take off points for things he wanted that he didn't clearly specify.

I thought he sucked! He doesn't use the books, but makes sure you get them the first day! He mostly uses his own examples in class than the book. He also makes a big deal about certain assignments and grades them 10 points! Make sure you read the paper cuz he does weekly quizzes.

Dr. John was quite possibly the worst teacher I've had @ wsu! He didn't understand most of his own classwork... Most of the time students were teaching him! He was unclear, condescending, & a terrible teacher. This class is pointless, if you don't have to take it DONT! If you do have to take it I'm sorry & good luck!

after reading comments on here about dr. john, i was scared to take him. i had two classes with him this past quarter and he was GREAT! i didn't see any bad attitudes, meanness...anything of the sort. i highly recommend him. he is busy, but always willing to help.

Jeffrey John was the most unhelpful prof I've had at WSU. His feed back didn't give you much to go on and he was very rude. He used words such as Fluff, awful, and ridiculous to describe work. The one thing he was good for was getting back to you in a timely manner. That’s if he received your emails. He lost lots of assignments

I enjoyed this class, but sometimes it seemed like a bit much. I know a lot of people in the class had difficulty with Dr. John and didn't like him, but for me, everything went completely fine and I didn't mind him at all. I would take him again.
