Comment:

I enjoyed Mr. Ruth's class, even his corny jokes. He walks you through the 1st paper step by step & provides plenty of in-class time for working on all the papers. He is very available, approachable, in person & email, demonstrated compassion when appropriate. If he could keep the religious rhetoric to a minimum, his class would be perfect.

Do not take this class if you get offended easily. Don't take this class period. He isn't realistic about deadlines and work. He forces his own beliefs on you and makes fun of all religion. Makes sure you know he's an atheist and believes any belief is foolish. He treats the class like kindergarteners

Easy class if you know your grammar and are a natural writer. Don't take him if you're easily offended on religious matters. He is not afraid to voice his opinions and thoughts. His class can also get a little boring but you get let out early at almost every meeting. Overall a good teacher.

Mr. Ruth is AMAZING! Great teacher. Yes, he grades tough. My first paper was a 72, but with his help, my last paper was a 89. That's great for me because I am terrible with the English subject.

Terrible teacher...I hated his class. Harsh on the grading even if you do what he asks for. He would take so many points off papers that would kill the grade. I don't recommend it. Find another English teacher. Best of luck.

I love Mr. Ruth! Yes, he is a tough grader on papers but he wants you to learn and he gives great feedback. His classes were always fun and he has a great sense of humor. We had quite a few papers but they were fun things to write about. I would definitely take him again.

Although he's an enjoyable professor to be around, the way he grades his papers just doesn't seem fair. You wont get a great grade on a paper unless its exactly the way HE would write it. Very conventional. Other than that the class is decent, but I still wouldn't take his class again.

Mr. Ruth was a pretty good teacher. He's really funny, and his heart and mind seem to still be stuck in the 60s. He's an interesting writer so he expects nothing less from his students. He allows students to correct most of their papers for higher grade as well. It was a good class.

Don't take him. I went on to the next English that was required knowing anything that I was supposed to learn. He was cool and funny just I struggled a lot with my next class because the things I was supposed to learn in his class I did not learn and just spent most of my time comparing movies to the cave.

BEST ENGLISH TEACHER EVER. His humor is sarcastic and extremely funny. He is nice, and he is a great grader. He is willing to meet with any student. His tests are easy too. He gives a lot of extra credit (jeopardy)

OK H es he is helpful with papers, he corrects the wrong marks on your rough draft but yet when you fix those mistake you still dont do well on your papers. YESSSS he is a DULL teacher if i didnt have a friend in that class i dont think i would have made it. His class isn't an easy A but if your a well writer nd dont mind being BORED ... TAKE IT :)

Before attending this class, I was DREADING writing papers but Mr. Ruth was very thorough on what his expectations were. I learned a lot in his class and through his grading. English used to be my worst subject, but last semester it was the only class I received an A. Mr. Ruth's humor and personality may be a little dry, but he's a great teacher!
