Great class. Of course Kurosawa being the subject of study makes it better. Dr. Abiko is a great teacher, very clear, and expected a higher standard from the HC students. She will be missed because she retired after this semester.

Good class if you like a challenge. Its an intro class that feels tougher than most 300-400 level. If you can memorize a lot of slides and quickly - take it. If not I'd recommend trying another prof/class.

Comment:

Professor Aibiko is a wonderful teacher. She has traveled extensivly and has a wealth of knowledge to share - especially on Japan. This class is well worth taking and very enjoyable. You will learn about places you had never lent a thought to - expand your horizons a bit. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Friendly, very nice person who cares about the students, but repeats herself often to the point of annoyance. She also regresses into personal tales of visiting the locale we are discussing rather than staying on topic. She gives a study guide for tests.

This is a tough class if you never show up. She basically tells you what's on the exams if you pay attention and study, really study. Go to the art gallery for extra credit too, that helps a lot. She's a little boring, but so it the subject matter.

Dedicated and passionate about teaching. Lots of information but explained completely. Great instructor but studying is absolutely necessary, there is no free ride on grading.
