Dr. Hammer is by far the best professor I have had at Duke. He understands that writing is not just about 5 paragraph essays, and he engages all of his students. Also, he isn't just a great professor, but he's also a great person as well. TRY AND GET INTO HIS CLASS IF YOU CAN.

This class was alot of fun, and we learned alot about writing and life. Dr. Hammer cares very much about his students. The work that we did in this class was work that one actually wanted to do and wasn't a "task." The class was very intellectually stimulating and its a reason one goes to Duke. Take this class!!!!!

Dr. Hammer is one of the best professors I've had at Duke. At first, he'll seem absolutely insane, but do NOT drop the course. He's a really nice guy who genuinely has a passion for writing and also cares for his students. We get into debates about many facets of life, and I can confidently say that I've learned something new-- take this course!

Hammer is one of the best teachers I've ever had. The class is easy but legitimately intellectual at the same time. Doc is easily the best writing 20 offered. Good luck getting into the class though.

This is the most interesting professor I've ever had. In some respects, he's insane, and in others he's just flat out unique. You won't ever have another professor like him in college. My particular Writing20 was Dormroom Documetnaries and not the standard writing 20, so I experienced something quite different. He was motivating, though. Take him.

I have had Brad twice. You learn through mutual dialogue rather than lecture. You learn why effective writing is important in your own life which makes you love the class. His high ratings might drop in bc movie production is not his expertise; students in spring05 didn't experience his usual class.

I hated English in hs and this was my favorite class this semster. Brad makes the class totally bareable and you only write one paper a semester compared to A LOT in other writing 20 classes and you can rewrite it for a better grade. Go to any costs to get in this class
