Comment:

Definitely the worst class I have taken. He is extremely boring and will ramble about completely pointless things. He does not return grades on papers. He tests on completely random details that have to relevance to theology. He gives a ton of required and recommended readings, but the recommended readings might as well be required.

If you go to office hours he's very helpful and clear. During class he tends to ramble and will spend anywhere up to ten minutes talking about the origin of a word. Do yourself a favor and don't take this class.

Comment:

McCormick does not baby you around. He expects people to keep track of deadlines themselves and will not remind you that you have a test 2 weeks in advance eg.I flunked the midterm, but put my effort, attended regularly and respected his rules. I passed nicely. Sure, he's not easy but neither is life. Work hard and you'll pass. Good lesson for life

Father Mack is not a bady guy at all! Don't listen to all of these other people who just want to complain about him because they are lazy and/or did not try. His tests are not hard at all--if you take notes during the lecture, you will find the tests are almost verbatim from his lectures. Would take him again if I could.

The class is very interesting, and Fr. Mack is cool and a real nice guy. Its tough though, and a lot of studying is required. The tests are really hard, but not impossible, and he makes himself available at any time for help (gives out home phone #). You'll learn a lot and be surprised how interesting the class is, but don't expect an easy A.

Fr. McCormick is a great professor. He expects a lot from his students, but as long as you study and respect him, the class is interesting and you will do fine. Do not be intimidated by him. He is a very nice person and very helpful if you talk to him. This class definitely increased my interest in the subject. I would take him again if I could.

I do not go into a required core class expecting to be treated as though I am majoring in Theology. I actually found the lessons very interesting and feel as though I have gotten a lot out of class. He does not, however, want his students to take a mild interest in the subject. He wants them to revel in the pretentious glory that is exegesis.

Wow, a professor who actually wants his students to work...how dare he! Give me a break he is neither a bad teacher nor a bad guy. His tests are straightfoward from the lectures and the paper is easy as long as you see him for his suggestions. If you are a lazy student then what are you doing in college anyway? College is work. Get over it.

He is incapable of giving a straight definition of anything because he always feels the need to go on a tangent showing off how much he knows about the subject. Seems to be under the impression that everyone taking his class is a theology major and has all the time in the world to devote to his class. Appreciates suck-ups. Very easy to fall asleep

Approachable, friendly, always available and willing to help. Attendance mandatory. Strict as far as no eating in class, etc. Intimidating at first, but nice. MUST do the reading to pass & if you familiarize yourself with him, he might take it easier on you. It was an 830 and I never had the urge to sleep because he kept it interesting & was funny.

Horrible teacher. Tests you on the syllabus. Recommended readings are placed on the midterm and final. Paper is easy. Tends to give examples that are untrue. Likes to show off his esoteric knowledge. Plays favorites and demeans question askers. All in all one of the worst teachers I've had at fordham.
